Huntington Learning Center is seeking caring, knowledgeable, and dependable K–12 Tutors to join our team. Our tutors work directly with students to strengthen academic skills, build confidence, and help students reach their individual educational goals.
This is an excellent opportunity for certified teachers, college graduates, graduate students, retired educators, and professionals with strong academic backgrounds who enjoy working with children and want meaningful, flexible part-time work.
What You’ll Do
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students in grades K–12.
- Tutor students in areas such as Reading, Phonics, English/Language Arts, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Study Skills, and test preparation.
- Follow Huntington's structured curriculum and instructional methods.
- Adjust instruction based on each student's skill level, learning needs, and progress.
- Explain academic concepts clearly and break challenging material into manageable steps.
- Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, persistence, and effective learning habits.
- Monitor student performance and provide appropriate feedback during each session.
- Maintain a positive, focused, and supportive learning environment.
- Communicate observations about student progress with Center staff.
- Follow Huntington's instructional procedures, policies, and expectations.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is:
- Caring, patient, and genuinely interested in helping students succeed.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Comfortable working with students across different ages and ability levels.
- Strong in at least one or more academic subject areas.
- Able to explain concepts clearly and adapt instruction when a student is struggling.
- Positive and encouraging while maintaining appropriate academic expectations.
- Comfortable learning and following a structured instructional program.
- Able to work independently while being part of a collaborative teaching team.
Bachelor's degree required.
Teaching certification and prior teaching or tutoring experience are preferred, but strong candidates with relevant academic or professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Training & Support
You don't need to create your own curriculum from scratch. Huntington provides initial and ongoing training in our instructional methods and curriculum, allowing tutors to focus their time and energy on teaching students.

Schedule
Tutoring is primarily conducted during after-school hours, with additional opportunities during mornings, weekends, and school breaks.
We are looking for tutors who can commit to a consistent weekly schedule, ideally working at least 2–3 days per week.
Typical shifts may include:
- Afternoons/evenings Monday–Friday
- Saturday mornings/afternoons
- Additional daytime availability during school breaks and summer
