Job Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Scribe/assistant where your participation will help support mental health clinicians. In this vital role, you will work closely with mental health professionals to accurately transcribe and document patient encounters. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure comprehensive, compliant, and efficient medical records that support exceptional patient outcomes. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in medical transcription, electronic health records management, and medical terminology within a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

Accurately transcribe detailed notes during psychiatric patient consultations, including history, symptoms, diagnoses, treatment plans, and medication details.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure all documentation aligns with clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations.
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems efficiently, ensuring all patient data is complete, accurate, and securely stored.
Assist in the organization and maintenance of medical records, ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards.
Support clinicians by preparing preliminary notes and summaries to facilitate smooth patient flow and timely care delivery.
Other ancillary administrative tasks and duties including patient callbacks and answering messages in a professional manner
Utilize strong typing skills and medical terminology knowledge to enhance the accuracy of all clinical documentation.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical transcription or medical office administration, preferably within psychiatric or mental health settings.
Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems is essential for efficient documentation.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and psychiatric terminology to ensure precise transcription.
Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance requirements and clinical confidentiality policies.
Excellent writing skills with attention to detail; ability to produce clear, accurate medical documentation under time constraints.
Administrative skills and experience in Microsoft Office, documentation creation, and spreadsheets.
Experience with medical records management and electronic health record systems is highly desirable.
Prior experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment such as emergency rooms or outpatient clinics is a plus.
