Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator II will perform various professional and administrative duties related to the general functions of Human Resources, including but not limited to coordination of recruitment and onboarding new employees, benefits administration, preparing various monthly and quarterly reports.
Essential Job Duties:
- Serve as the first point of contact for the Human Resources Department by greeting employees and visitors, answering phones, responding to inquiries, providing guidance on HR processes, and referring complex matters to appropriate HR staff.

Coordinate the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding and offboarding for faculty, staff, and student employees. Prepare orientation materials, assist with facilitating new employee orientation and benefits overview, ensure completion of required employment and compliance documentation, and process separation paperwork.

Administer employee benefits by processing enrollments, changes, qualifying life events, retirements, and terminations; assist employees with benefit eligibility and enrollment; coordinate annual open enrollment; and serve as a liaison with insurance carriers and benefit vendors to resolve issues while ensuring compliance with plan requirements and enrollment deadlines.

Process and maintain employment records and personnel transactions, including new hires, status changes, personnel action forms, and benefit updates in HRIS and vendor systems. Audit records for accuracy, maintain confidentiality of personnel files, and ensure timely and accurate payroll-related benefit information.

Support recruitment activities by posting vacancies, coordinating hiring documentation, assisting with candidate screening and interview scheduling, and facilitating pre-employment and new hire processes.

Coordinate employee performance management and compliance initiatives by tracking performance evaluations, assigning required training, and monitoring completion of mandatory forms and training requirements.

Prepare, analyze, and distribute monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc HR reports for internal University departments and external agencies, including required reports to the State of Tennessee, ensuring data accuracy and timely submission.

Prepare check requests, and other HR-related documentation; maintain department files, records, and office supplies; and provide general administrative support to ensure efficient HR operations.

Foster positive employee relations by providing responsive customer service and supporting employees throughout their employment.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of relevant experience in human resources, customer service, or an administrative office environment. An equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible human resources experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Tennessee and federal Human Resource laws such as EEOC guidelines, E-Verify, FLSA, and ADA are required.

Knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and employment processes.

Strong knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.)

Excellent interpersonal, customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.

Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Effective analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a member of the Human Resources team.
Preferred:
- BA/BS degree in in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Employee Relations, or related field

PHR/SPHR certification

Experience in Higher Education setting

Banner system, Employee Navigator, E-Verify and TimeClock Plus experience
