Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Community Therapist provides skills-based, milieu-focused clinical support to clients receiving outpatient eating disorder treatment. This role emphasizes group facilitation, individual therapeutic check-ins, mealtime support, crisis intervention, and close collaboration with an interdisciplinary treatment team to promote safety, recovery, and continuity of care.

Primary Responsibilities

Facilitate assigned therapeutic groups in accordance with program curriculum and clinical protocols.
Provide individual, skills-based sessions as needed, focusing on practical life skills such as activities of daily living (ADLs), planning, organization, budgeting, and community functioning.
Participate in providing therapeutic support during client mealtimes, reinforcing treatment goals and maintaining a safe, recovery-oriented environment.
Conduct crisis interventions as needed, including completion of the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) and development of safety plans.
Provide clinical check-ins and de-escalation support when clients appear emotionally or behaviorally dysregulated within the treatment milieu.
Communicate effectively with relevant internal care providers (e.g., therapists, dietitians, psychiatrists, nursing staff) to support ongoing assessment and coordination of care.
Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary treatment team in the planning, coordination, and delivery of client care.
Assist clients with snacks and meal times including eating with them and redirecting table behaviors
Review, understand, and adhere to all clinical protocols, policies, and procedures related to clinical services and interventions.
Provide orientation to new clients, including program structure, expectations, and therapeutic supports.
Complete assigned outcomes measures and required clinical documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Participate in the clinical on-call rotation as scheduled, providing support and crisis response as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field preferred.
Experience working with eating disorder populations and/or in outpatient, PHP, IOP, or residential behavioral health settings preferred.
Strong group facilitation and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations.
Knowledge of trauma-informed, skills-based, and recovery-oriented approaches to care.
Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.

Physical & Work Requirements

Ability to engage in active milieu-based work, including standing, walking, and participating in mealtime support.
Ability to manage emotionally intense clinical situations while maintaining professional boundaries.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
