Job Summary

Prior experience in long-term care preferred but not required

A valid driver’s license

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Operating a vehicle that transports passengers to and from medical appointments

· Offering comfort and support to patients and their families.

· Transporting medical equipment, supplies and laboratory specimens to designated treatment, diagnostic and patient care areas.

· Communicating with nurses.

· Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

· Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work.

· Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

· Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

· Must have patience, tact, and willingness to deal with difficult residents, family and staff.

· Must not pose a threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.

· Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

· Meets general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases.

· Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.

· Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.

· May be subject to hostile or emotional residents, family members, visitors or personnel.

· Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to exercise judgement.

· Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.

Job Type: Full-time

Duties

Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.
Communicate effectively with passengers regarding routes, schedules, and any changes in travel plans.
Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
Handle heavy lifting when necessary for loading and unloading cargo or assisting passengers with their belongings.
Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents that may occur during transport.
Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger inquiries or concerns promptly.
Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while on duty.

Qualifications

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with passengers.
Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for loading and unloading tasks.
Familiarity with local routes and traffic patterns is a plus.
Must be able to pass background checks as required by company policy.
