About the Position
Event Service Staff help bring the Cleveland Field Kitchen experience to life. This position is responsible for setting up events, serving food and beverages, caring for guests, maintaining a clean and organized space, and helping the team complete a smooth breakdown at the end of each event.
This is more than a traditional server position. We are looking for dependable, friendly people who notice what guests and teammates need and take action without always being asked.
No two events are exactly alike. Team members must be comfortable adapting to different venues, service styles, timelines, weather conditions, and guest needs while maintaining a calm and professional attitude.
Primary ResponsibilitiesGuest Service and Hospitality
- Welcome guests warmly and provide attentive, professional service.
- Serve passed appetizers, plated meals, buffets, stations, family-style meals, desserts, and beverages.
- Learn the menu and communicate basic ingredient and dietary information accurately.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests.
- Clear plates, glassware, and service items efficiently and discreetly.
- Maintain clean and organized guest tables and service areas.
- Communicate guest concerns or dietary questions to the Event Lead.
- Represent Cleveland Field Kitchen with warmth, professionalism, and care.
Event Setup
- Arrive on time, in uniform, and ready to work at the scheduled location.
- Unload and organize event equipment, food, beverages, rentals, and supplies.
- Set tables, chairs, linens, place settings, glassware, service stations, and other event areas.
- Follow floor plans, setup instructions, and the direction of the Event Lead.
- Check tables and service areas for cleanliness, accuracy, and presentation.
- Help ensure the venue is event-ready before guests arrive.
Event Service
- Attend the pre-event team meeting and understand the timeline, menu, assignments, and service style.
- Follow established food-safety, alcohol-service, and sanitation procedures.
- Work with culinary, bar, and hospitality team members to keep service on schedule.
- Refill water, beverages, buffets, stations, and service supplies as assigned.
- Carry trays, plates, racks, bus tubs, and event equipment safely.
- Remain attentive and productive throughout the event.
- Communicate proactively when assistance, supplies, or direction are needed.
- Adapt calmly when schedules or event needs change.
Breakdown and Cleanup
- Clear and reset service areas throughout the event.
- Break down tables, service stations, bars, and event equipment as assigned.
- Sort, count, pack, and load Cleveland Field Kitchen equipment and supplies.
- Handle rentals, dishes, glassware, linens, food, and waste according to company procedures.
- Clean work areas and leave the venue in the agreed-upon condition.
- Remain through the scheduled end of the shift unless released by the Event Lead.
- Check out with the Event Lead before leaving.
Required Qualifications
- A genuine interest in hospitality and taking care of people.
- Dependable attendance and reliable transportation to event locations.
- Availability for evening and weekend shifts.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Professional communication and a positive attitude.
- Ability to remain calm and courteous in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to perform setup, service, cleanup, and physical event work.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry at least 30 pounds.
- Ability to safely carry trays, racks, bus tubs, and event supplies.
- Professional appearance and willingness to follow uniform and grooming standards.
- Ability to use a smartphone for scheduling, communication, and timekeeping.
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience is helpful but not required:
- Catering, banquet, restaurant, wedding, or event service
- Fine dining or upscale hospitality
- Tray-passed appetizer service
- Plated, buffet, station, or family-style service
- Bartending, wine service, or alcohol-service certification
- Event setup and rental handling
- Food-safety training

Schedule and Working Conditions
This is an event-based position. Most shifts take place during evenings and weekends, although weekday and daytime events are also available. Hours vary according to the event schedule and are not guaranteed.
Events are held at private homes, farms, venues, businesses, museums, outdoor spaces, and other locations throughout Northeast Ohio. Team members may occasionally work outdoors in changing weather or in venues with stairs, uneven ground, or limited service facilities.
Shifts may include setup and breakdown time before and after the scheduled guest event. Team members are expected to remain for the entire assigned shift.
