Kirby Manufacturing Incorporated (KMI), an international supplier of cattle feeding equipment, has an immediate opening for an experienced Machine Design Draftsperson to support both the design and build of its equipment. This is a “hands-on” position, one that requires working in both an office and production floor environment. The ideal candidate should have experience with the design of off-road mobile equipment for both truck and trailer mount applications.
Job Responsibilities:
· Equipment design and build utilizing SolidWorks, AutoCAD and CNC nesting software.
· Self-starter who is able to work independently and within a team environment.
· Able to manage multiple projects at one time with emphasis on the detail, and documentation.
· Must be able to manage the engineering department's work flow and personnel.
· Working knowledge of machine shop equipment and practices; Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
Job Requirements:
· Experience in manufacturing with emphasis in equipment design and build.
· Must have a strong knowledge and understanding of design and drafting practices as well as available commercial components and hardware.
· Must have a strong background with hydraulics system design and strength of materials.

Educational Requirements:
· Trained and/or certificated in Microsoft, SolidWorks (CSWP certified or higher preferred) and AutoCAD software.

Job Specifications
Duties and Tasks:
·Read, interpret and develop blueprints, technical drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), schematics, and computer-generated reports.
·Support Production with manufacturing drawings, electronic transfer of data to CNC centers and hands-on support.
·Research customer design requirements and specifications to be able to generate designs to meet the application.
·Assist drafters and designers in developing the structural design of products, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software.
·Investigate equipment failures and determine the corrective action necessary to rectify the problem.
Activities:
·Use computers and computer systems to develop designs and perform data analysis activities.
·Provide clear and concise information to managers, supervisors and co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
·Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work in a timely manner.
·Communicating with external customers and suppliers in a professional manner via; in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
·Developing personal, constructive and cooperative working relationships with fellow associates, and strengthen these relationships over time.
·Provide technical writing support for sales documents, service brochures and operators manuals.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
