Full Job Description

Cromwell Public Schools is looking for a PreK- 12 Literacy Curriculum Supervisor for the school district. The Curriculum Supervisor provides system-wide leadership in the development, coordination and implementation of the curriculum, instruction, assessment and overall program. This position reports to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Curriculum and Instruction

o Collaborate with building principals to assess the curricular needs and develop a site-based plan

for improvement of instruction and increased student achievement

o Model, coach, and collaborate on the use of differentiated materials and instructional strategies

that are research based

o Oversee instructional coaches

o Coach teachers on effective planning, instruction, and assessment of the curriculum

o Collaborate with teachers on lesson plan design and implementation

o Provide ongoing support of literacy and technology integration in the content area

o Attend BOE, parent-teacher organization, or other meetings when requested

o Collaborate with other district specialists and CSDE representatives on best practices and state initiatives

o Coordinate curriculum and assessment projects, under the direction of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction

o Develop and implement curriculum and instructional support services in a manner consistent with Board of Education policy and best practice

o Work closely with principals, assistant principals, and teachers to target Tier II and III instruction and improve progress monitoring tools and process

QUALIFICATIONS AND STRENGTHS

Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills to lead teachers, parents, and members of the school

community;

Ability to pass the Teacher Evaluation and Support System assessment;
Ability to supervise, support and evaluate teachers;
Ability to bring research-based insight to curriculum development in order to improve student achievement;
Knowledge of best practice in instruction and assessment;
Experience with special populations;
Demonstrated expertise in Language Arts/Social Studies curriculum/, instruction and assessment;
Ability to integrate instructional technology resources into district curriculum;
Five years’ experience as a professional educator, with evidence of a high level of proficiency in teaching, a thorough knowledge of instructional strategies, child development, curriculum, and classroom management required;
Administrative experience in curriculum/instruction preferred
Ability to read, interpret and summarize assessment results including standardized tests;
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;
Ability to speak effectively before administrators, staff, parents and students;
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form;
Ability to apply knowledge of current educational research and theory;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community;
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form;
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies;
Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

EVALUATION RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include evaluations

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Intermediate Administration Certification (092) required

WORK YEAR AND SALARY: Salary and benefits as outlined in the Administrator’s Contract ($133,227 pro-rated with start date); 207 day work year (work teacher work year (187 days) plus an additional 20 days) which is pro-rated with start date.
