Full Job Description

Landscape DesignerPosition Summary

The Landscape Designer is responsible for generating profitable landscape construction sales by providing exceptional customer service, creative landscape design, accurate estimating, and project coordination from the initial client consultation through project completion. This role serves as the primary point of contact throughout the sales process and works closely with production to ensure each project is completed according to the client's vision.

Successful Landscape Designers are trusted advisors who combine consultative sales, creative design, technical estimating, and strong communication skills to create outstanding outdoor living spaces while achieving company sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals.

Essential ResponsibilitiesSales & Client Management

Respond to new sales inquiries and conduct discovery calls.
Meet with prospective clients to understand their goals, budget, and project vision.
Prepare and present landscape designs, estimates, and proposals.
Follow up with leads and maintain an organized sales pipeline.
Meet annual sales goals while maintaining company profit margin expectations.

Landscape Design & Estimating

Design functional, attractive residential landscapes that balance creativity, budget, and constructability.
Develop conceptual plans, planting layouts, and outdoor living spaces.
Prepare accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors using LMN.
Coordinate vendor pricing and prepare change orders when needed.

Project Coordination

Conduct project handoffs with production teams.
Visit projects during construction to ensure design intent is achieved.
Assist with customer communication, project closeout, warranty issues, and final billing.

Customer Experience

Deliver an exceptional client experience from first contact through project completion.
Communicate proactively throughout the project.
Build lasting client relationships that generate referrals and repeat business.

Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain organized project files and CRM records.
Prepare contracts, proposals, change orders, and project documentation.
Submit paperwork accurately and on time.

QualificationsRequired

Proven consultative sales experience.
Knowledge of landscape construction practices.
Strong estimating, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred

Landscape design experience.
Experience with LMN and Land F/X, AutoCAD, or similar software.
Knowledge of horticulture and plant selection.
Degree or equivalent experience in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or a related field.

Physical Requirements

Walk on uneven terrain during site visits.
Lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Travel throughout the Treasure Valley to client and project sites.

Reporting Structure

Reports To: General Manager

Works closely with Production Managers, Landscape Supervisors, Purchasing & Scheduling, Design Assistant, Fine Gardening Care Manager, Administrative Team, Vendors, and Subcontractors.

Compensation

This position includes a competitive base salary plus a performance-based commission plan. Commission is earned on sold landscape construction projects and is based on individual sales performance, profitability, and company goals as outlined in the current Landscape Designer Compensation Plan.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
