Full Job Description

You will be responsible to :

Supervise & plan activities with School-Age students in grades K-8th. This is a split shift that begins at 6:30 AM-9:30 AM for morning care & 2:00 PM-6:00 PM for afternoon care.

Have passion for youth and the ability to connect and empower creativity
Provide leadership and demonstrate the ability to set and maintain limits for children using positive reinforcement.

Support, plan and Engage is daily activities with youth.
 Provide input toward the development of a well-rounded curriculum; i.e. outdoor time, sports and assisting with homework. Includes trips and special events.
 Assist the Program Director in planning and carrying out activities during school vacation weeks, half days off from school.
 Assist the Program Director in maintaining the necessary records involving attendance and sign in/ sign out sheets.
 Maintain good public relations with parents understand that you represent the organization and maintain a positive disposition, demeanor and attire.
 Attempt to answer parent concerns or make appropriate referrals to the Program Director.
 Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling for special events and be available to work in other classrooms when the need arises. Arrive on time and prepared for visual surveillance of the program participants with no distractions. Work in harmony and cooperation with the staff, volunteers and members of the organization; as well as any partnering organization or school. Treat all children with dignity and respect.

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk for a long period of time, to talk and hear, to sit, to lift and/or move up to 40lbs, to climb or balance, to stoop, and sit in small chairs and on floors regularly; and the ability to move quickly to keep pace with active young children, kneel, crouch, or to crawl, to use hands or finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Works with children ranging in age from 5-18 years old; Uses positive approaches to help children to solve problems.

*Ensure that classroom remain in well-defined learning centers that are clearly labeled, clutter-free reflect children’s interests and encourage independent use. *Provides input into a curriculum which is responsive to children’s individual needs, interests and developmental levels. *Provides leadership, maintains routines develop and follows the lesson plan; incorporates STEM activities. *Follows all safety and health rules for the center, including all state, federal, MO Accreditation. *Supervises children by sight and sound at all times. *Completes paperwork which is well-written, thorough, and completed in a timely manner *Reports to work on time, maintains consistent attendance, adhering to staffing schedules and demonstrating flexibility to adjust work schedule as needed. *Actively participates in meetings, planning and center-wide activities. *Obtains a minimum of 18 hours of in-service training per year, and is responsible for initiating a plan to obtain these hours. *Supports regular communication with families in collaboration with the classroom teacher. *May facilitate regular family conferences at least 2 to 3 times per year. *Understands and maintains a Primary Care giving relationship with individual children and families. *Develop and maintaining classroom and individual child portfolios. *Ensure the organization of the environment and appropriately cares for equipment, keeping equipment safe, clean and accessible to children. *Utilizes materials in a creative manner, bringing in resources to enhance the curriculum, and minimizing waste. *Maintain organization of time and resources to ensure that all materials are available and ready to ensure appropriate implementation of the curriculum/lesson plan.

Minimum requirements Education : Two years college with six ECE credits or CDA preferred. Should have warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well with children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with program goals.

; Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * ; Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. * ; Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. * ; The ability to handle decisions. * ; Be able to lift, move, or hold children up to 40 pounds. * ; Be able to fully participate in all activities, including continuous supervision and interaction with children outdoors for extended periods of time weather permitting (25-90 degrees). * ; Be able to respond immediately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies. * ; Be able to maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy. * ; Fluency in the languages spoken by the families served preferred.
Full time position but is a split shift, during school year.

Summary

As a Youth Development Specialist for grades K-8, you will support the growth and well-being of diverse youth through mentoring, education, and positive behavioral supports. Reporting to the program supervisor, you will implement youth development programs, collaborate with families and schools, and foster inclusive, engaging activities. Core responsibilities include guiding adolescent development, coordinating activities, and monitoring progress while applying PBIS strategies. You will work with underserved communities to promote empowerment, safety, and academic and social-emotional growth.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 35.0 per week
