POSITION 1: AUTOMOTIVE BODY SHOP TECHNICIAN
WHO YOU ARE
You're a skilled collision repair technician who takes pride in restoring damaged vehicles to their original condition. You're comfortable working with your hands, have a keen eye for detail, and enjoy the satisfaction of seeing a damaged vehicle transformed. You work well as part of a team and are eager to continue developing your skills in the collision repair trade.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Collision Repair Responsibilities:
- Repair and replace damaged body panels, bumpers, fenders, doors, and structural components
- Straighten bent frames using frame machines and hydraulic equipment
- Remove dents using various techniques including hammers, dollies, and body filler
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel, aluminum, and other materials
- Cut and remove damaged sections using plasma cutters, saws, and pneumatic tools
- Install and align replacement parts to manufacturer specifications
- Replace or repair windshields, windows, mirrors, and glass components
- Remove and reinstall interior panels, seats, trim, and components
- Repair or replace damaged suspension components, steering parts, and mechanical systems affected by collision
- Conduct three-dimensional measuring of vehicle frames and unibody structures
- Disassemble and reassemble vehicles to access damaged areas
- Use computerized measuring systems to ensure proper alignment
Surface Preparation & Finishing:
- Strip, sand, grind, and prepare surfaces for painting
- Apply body filler and sand to achieve smooth surfaces
- Mask and protect areas not being painted
- Apply primer coats and sealers
- Assist painters with vehicle preparation and finishing work
- Perform light refinishing and touch-up work as needed
Quality & Documentation:
- Review damage reports and repair orders to understand scope of work
- Follow manufacturer repair procedures and specifications
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
- Document all repairs performed with measurements and photos
- Road test vehicles when required
- Maintain clean and organized work area
Safety & Compliance:
- Use all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Follow all safety procedures and OSHA regulations
- Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Report safety concerns to management immediately
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- 2-5 years of collision repair/auto body experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Proficiency with hand tools, pneumatic tools, and welding equipment
- Knowledge of vehicle construction and collision repair techniques
- Ability to read and interpret repair estimates and technical manuals
- Strong attention to detail and quality focus
- Good communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions throughout the day
- Must own basic hand tools (specialty equipment provided)
Preferred:
- I-CAR certifications (Non-Structural, Steel Structural)
- ASE certifications (B3-B6 series)
- Vocational/technical school training in collision repair
- Experience with frame straightening and measuring systems
- Welding certification
- Experience with fleet vehicles or commercial trucks
Pay Range: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour (based on experience and certifications)
POSITION 2: MID-LEVEL PAINTER
WHO YOU ARE
You're a skilled automotive painter with solid experience in surface preparation and paint application. You can work independently on most jobs, produce quality finishes, and are looking to continue refining your craft. You understand the importance of proper prep work and take pride in producing smooth, glossy finishes that meet customer expectations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Paint Preparation:
- Sand, grind, and prepare vehicle surfaces for painting
- Apply body filler and perform block sanding to achieve smooth surfaces
- Strip old paint and remove rust from metal surfaces
- Mask and protect areas not being painted using tape, paper, and plastic
- Apply primer coats and sealers
- Inspect surfaces for imperfections and make necessary corrections
- Mix putty and glazing compound to fill minor imperfections
Paint Application:
- Mix paints, clear coats, and reducers according to manufacturer specifications
- Match colors using paint mixing systems and visual comparison
- Operate spray guns (HVLP, conventional, airless) to apply base coats, mid-coats, and clear coats
- Apply single-stage and multi-stage paint systems
- Perform spot repairs, panel blends, and full vehicle repaints
- Control paint application to avoid runs, sags, orange peel, and dry spray
- Apply multiple coats following proper flash times
- Monitor and adjust spray equipment settings for optimal results
Finishing & Quality Control:
- Inspect painted surfaces for defects including runs, sags, dirt, and coverage issues
- Perform wet sanding, buffing, and polishing to achieve showroom finish
- Color-sand and buff to remove imperfections
- Apply rubbing compound and polish for final finish
- Remove masking materials and reinstall trim components
- Clean paint booth and equipment after each job
- Conduct final quality inspection before releasing vehicle
Shop Operations:
- Maintain paint booth, spray guns, and equipment in proper working condition
- Monitor paint supply inventory and request materials as needed
- Properly mix, store, and dispose of paints, thinners, and chemicals
- Wear respirator and all required PPE
- Follow EPA and OSHA regulations for hazardous materials
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Complete accurate documentation on repair orders
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- 3-5 years of automotive painting experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Proficiency with spray guns, mixing systems, and paint application techniques
- Knowledge of various paint systems (waterborne, solvent-based, single-stage, base coat/clear coat)
- Ability to match colors and perform blends
- Strong understanding of surface preparation requirements
- Attention to detail with commitment to quality finishes
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Color vision and depth perception
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable wearing respirator for extended periods
- Must own basic painting tools (spray equipment provided)
Preferred:
- I-CAR Refinish Technician certification
- ASE B2 Painting and Refinishing certification
- PPG, Sikkens, or other manufacturer paint system training
- Experience with computerized paint mixing systems
- Vocational/technical school training
- Experience painting commercial trucks or fleet vehicles
- Knowledge of multi-stage metallics and pearls
Pay Range: $26.00 - $36.00 per hour (based on experience and certifications)
POSITION 3: EXPERIENCED AUTO PAINTER
WHO YOU ARE
You're a master-level painter with extensive experience producing flawless, show-quality finishes. You can handle the most challenging paint jobs including complex color matching, custom blends, and difficult repairs. You understand paint chemistry, can troubleshoot any finish problem, and take pride in your reputation for perfection. You're comfortable mentoring less experienced painters and sharing your expertise.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Advanced Paint Operations:
- Perform complete paint jobs on commercial vehicles, trucks, trailers, and specialty equipment
- Execute complex color matching and blending including tri-coat, multi-stage metallics, and pearls
- Mix custom colors to achieve perfect matches on aged or faded paint
- Apply advanced paint systems including waterborne, high-solids, and specialty coatings
- Perform spot repairs with seamless blends that are undetectable
- Handle difficult substrates including aluminum, plastic, fiberglass, and composite materials
- Apply vinyl graphics, fleet markings, and custom striping
- Refinish specialized equipment including aerial lifts, hydraulic components, and custom installations
- Troubleshoot and correct paint defects including solvent pop, fish eyes, mottling, and die-back
- Adjust spray techniques for various environmental conditions
Surface Preparation Mastery:
- Evaluate and prepare all types of surfaces for optimal paint adhesion
- Determine proper surface preparation methods for each substrate
- Apply advanced filling and blocking techniques for difficult contours
- Ensure proper surface profile for various coating systems
- Identify and address potential adhesion or compatibility issues
Quality Assurance & Technical Leadership:
- Perform final quality inspections on all paint work
- Mentor and train junior painters in proper techniques
- Troubleshoot paint application problems and provide solutions
- Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and customer expectations
- Maintain highest quality standards for the shop
- Test and recommend new products and techniques
Shop Leadership:
- Assist with paint booth maintenance and calibration
- Monitor paint inventory and recommend ordering schedules
- Ensure proper mixing ratios and material usage for cost control
- Train team members on equipment operation and safety procedures
- Maintain spray equipment in optimal condition
- Ensure compliance with VOC regulations and environmental standards
Safety & Environmental Compliance:
- Expert-level knowledge of hazardous materials handling
- Ensure proper PPE usage and respiratory protection
- Maintain clean, compliant paint booth operations
- Proper mixing, storage, and disposal of all materials
- Lead by example in safety practices
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- 5+ years of professional automotive painting experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Master-level proficiency in all aspects of automotive refinishing
- Advanced color matching and blending skills
- Expertise with all types of paint systems and applications
- Proven ability to produce show-quality finishes consistently
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of paint chemistry and application science

- Ability to mentor and train others

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must own complete set of painting tools (spray equipment and booth provided)
Preferred:
- I-CAR Refinish Technician certification (Platinum preferred)
- ASE B2 Painting and Refinishing certification
- Multiple manufacturer certifications (PPG, Sikkens, BASF, Axalta, etc.)
- Experience with waterborne and high-solids paint systems
- Custom paint and graphics experience
- Experience painting heavy-duty trucks, commercial vehicles, or specialty equipment
- Vocational/technical school training
- Leadership or lead painter experience
Pay Range: $32.00 - $45.00+ per hour (based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated skill level)
