MediaTech Institute is an accredited institution dedicated to preparing students for careers in Recording Arts, Digital Film & Video, Animation & Visual Effects, and related creative industries. As we expand our academic offerings, including bachelor's degree programs, we are seeking an organized, student-focused Learning Resource System (LRS) Librarian / Information Specialist to oversee and develop our learning resources.

Position Summary

The Learning Resource System (LRS) Librarian / Information Specialist is responsible for managing MediaTech Institute's physical and digital learning resources while supporting students and faculty with research, information literacy, and access to academic materials. This individual will ensure the Learning Resource System remains current, organized, and responsive to the needs of our academic programs.

Responsibilities

Manage and maintain the institution’s Learning Resource System (LRS).
Oversee digital library subscriptions, online databases, and research platforms.
Evaluate and recommend books, journals, streaming media, electronic resources, and other materials that support the institution’s academic programs.
Assist students and faculty with research strategies, database use, and locating appropriate academic resources.
Provide information-literacy instruction and research support as needed.
Maintain accurate records of library resources, usage, acquisitions, and circulation.
Collaborate with faculty to ensure available learning resources adequately support course objectives and program requirements.
Coordinate the ordering, cataloging, organization, and inventory of new materials.
Help manage check-in and check-out systems for books, instructional materials, external hard drives, USB drives, orientation materials, and other student resources.
Monitor borrowed materials and assist with maintaining accurate inventory and return records.
Ensure library and Learning Resource System policies and procedures are followed.
Support accreditation and regulatory activities by maintaining documentation related to learning resources and student access.
Assist with orientation materials and introduce students to available learning resources.
Assist with organizational, inventory, records-management, and campus resource projects as assigned.
Stay informed of emerging trends in academic libraries, digital resources, information literacy, and educational technology.

Qualifications

Required:

Master's degree in Library Science, or a graduate degree in information-specialist fields.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Experience using electronic research databases and digital library systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard computer applications.

Preferred:

Experience working in an academic library or higher education environment.
Familiarity with online learning platforms and distance education.
Experience supporting accreditation or institutional compliance.
Knowledge of copyright and fair use principles in higher education.
