Full Job Description

Overall Scope

The overall scope for the role of a Senior Electrical Estimator involves coordinating the total estimating effort for bids and projects, providing detailed input on complex projects, and reviewing proposal specifications and drawings to accurately determine project scope and estimates. This role requires integrating historical data from various sources into unit and man-hour calculations, preparing comprehensive estimates by thoroughly assessing the scope of work, and maintaining detailed documentation for backup. Additionally, the Senior Electrical Estimator is responsible for guiding junior estimators, contributing to the Preconstruction group, and handling additional tasks as directed by supervisors.

Essential Functions

· Interpreting Incomplete Designs: Utilize or interpret unfinished designs, seeking assistance from Engineering as needed.

· Quality Control and Safety Analysis: Identify specific quality control and safety requirements for projects and include related costs in bids.

· Risk Management: Ascertain risks associated with estimates and make provisions for these risks in tenders.

· Estimate Preparation and Review: Ensure estimates are complete, well-organized, and ready for review before deadlines.

· Design Review and Recommendation: Examine design options and recommend the best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, and material availability.

· Support to Field Operations: Provide assistance regarding electrical estimates to field operations.

· Knowledge of Electrical Codes and Regulations: Stay updated with the latest electrical codes and regulations.

· Proficiency in Estimating Software: Skilled in Accubid, Blubeam, LiveCount and other estimating technologies.

· Contract Negotiation and Management: Expertise in negotiating contracts and managing stakeholder relationships.

· Sustainable Design Knowledge: Aware of sustainable practices and energy-efficient design principles.

· Market Analysis: Keep informed about market trends and material costs for accurate estimates.

· Client Communication and Consultation: Effectively communicate and consult with clients about their needs and expectations.

· Financial Management: Understand financial principles for budget management in estimations.

· Quality Assurance Compliance: Ensure estimates comply with quality standards and regulations.

· Team Coordination and Conflict Resolution: Lead and coordinate teams, resolving conflicts in the estimation process.

· Continual Learning and Development: Commit to ongoing learning and stay updated with industry advancements.

· Project Management Principles: Align estimating processes with project management objectives.

· 8+ years of estimating experience.

· Familiarity with Accubid or comparable electrical estimating software.

· Familiarity with Blubeam software.

· Working knowledge of electrical installation estimating techniques and cost control.

· Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.

· Ability to perform detailed work and successfully meet deadlines.

· Successful track record in estimating and negotiating large, complex projects.

· Thorough knowledge of company procedures and estimating techniques.

· Ability to successfully coordinate and supervise group work effort.

· Superior technical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
