AI-First Full-Stack Developer
Young Musicians Unite – Miami, FL
Full-Time | Primarily In-Office | $85,000–$110,000
Reports to: Director of Impact, Arts Access Miami / Director of Operations
About the Organization
Young Musicians Unite is building the future of arts access in Miami. We provide free, high-quality music education to students across Miami-Dade County, working deeply with public schools, artists, nonprofits, funders, and civic partners to make sure more young people have access to the arts.
We are also building something bigger than our own programs: a coordinated arts access ecosystem for the entire county.
That is where this role comes in.
The Role
We are hiring an AI-First Full-Stack Developer to help build the software, automations, and internal tools that make YMU and Arts Access Miami more powerful, more efficient, and more scalable.
Your first major project will be building the Arts Access Map: a public-facing, web-hosted application that maps arts education resources across Miami-Dade County.
The Arts Access Map will help families, schools, nonprofits, philanthropists, foundations, and local governments understand where arts resources exist, where gaps remain, and where investment can have the greatest impact.
We already have a working prototype. Your job is to help turn it into a real product: clean, useful, public, reliable, and continually improving.
But this is not only a map-building role.
YMU is moving quickly into AI-first operations. We are already using AI to improve internal workflows, automate repetitive work, and help a lean team operate with more leverage. You will help us find, build, and refine those systems across the organization.
- You will build software.
- You will connect APIs.
- You will automate workflows.
- You will prototype quickly.
- You will use AI coding tools every day.
- You will turn messy operational problems into useful tools people actually use.
This is a great role for someone who is technical, fast, curious, low-ego, systems-minded, and obsessed with what AI makes possible.
What You’ll Build
Your work will include:
- Building the Arts Access Map from prototype to polished public application
- Creating internal tools and automations that reduce manual work across YMU
- Connecting systems through APIs, scripts, databases, and AI workflows
- Building automations around payroll, finance, teacher scheduling, and reporting
- Helping streamline proofreading and approval workflows for marketing assets
- Creating AI-assisted workflows for staff across departments
- Improving data collection, data quality, dashboards, and visibility
- Turning Google Sheets, forms, Airtable bases, Asana workflows, and scattered processes into cleaner systems
- Helping YMU staff understand and adopt AI tools safely and effectively
- Finding repetitive work and replacing it with better systems
The work will range from public-facing product development to scrappy internal workflow automation.
- Some days you may be building a web app.
- Some days you may be writing a script.
- Some days you may be sitting with a department head, understanding a broken workflow, and turning it into something 10x better.
What Success Looks Like
Twelve months from now, success means:
- The Arts Access Map is live, useful, and actively improving
- Schools, nonprofits, funders, and civic partners can use the map to understand arts access across Miami-Dade
- YMU has cleaner internal systems and fewer repetitive manual workflows
- Staff are using AI more confidently and effectively
- Key workflows in finance, payroll, scheduling, reporting, and marketing approvals are faster and less error-prone
- YMU has a stronger internal technology foundation without needing a full engineering team
- You have become a high-leverage builder inside the organization
You Might Be a Fit If
You are probably the kind of person who:
- Builds tools for fun
- Uses Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT, or similar tools every day
- Gets annoyed when smart people waste time on repetitive manual work
- Can build a scrappy version quickly, then make it better
- Has real coding ability but does not worship complexity
- Can work without a large engineering team around you
- Can talk to nontechnical people and understand what they actually need
- Has good taste in product, design, and user experience
- Thinks in systems, workflows, leverage, and feedback loops
- Is excited by AI agents, automations, internal tools, and public-impact technology
- Wants to learn from innovators and may want to start a company one day
- You do not need to have followed a traditional path.
- We care much more about what you can build than where you learned to build it.
What You Should Know
We are looking for a hybrid hacker-builder:
- Someone who can build real software, automate workflows, write scripts, connect APIs, and use AI aggressively to move faster.
You should be comfortable with many of the following:
- JavaScript / TypeScript
- Python
- React / Next.js or similar front-end frameworks
- SQL, Postgres, Supabase, Firebase, or similar databases
- APIs and system integrations
- GitHub
- AI coding tools
- OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or similar AI APIs
- Google Workspace automation
- Google Apps Script
- Airtable
- Zapier, Make, n8n, or similar automation tools
- Dashboards, forms, workflow tools, and internal applications
You do not need to be an expert in every tool on this list.
You do need to be able to learn quickly, make good technical decisions, and ship useful work without being handheld.
What Will Not Work Here
This is not a fit for someone who:
- Needs constant direction
- Only wants to write perfect code in a perfectly scoped environment
- Is not already using AI heavily
- Cannot explain technical ideas to nontechnical people
- Is allergic to messy real-world systems
- Wants a large engineering team before they can be productive
- Builds things that no one uses
- Moves slowly
- Lacks attention to detail
- Does not document their work
- Is careless with sensitive information
- Is more interested in tools than outcomes
Location
- This is ideally a full-time, in-office role based in Miami.
- We would consider remote or hybrid for an exceptional candidate, but the work will be deeply connected to YMU’s team, partners, and Miami-Dade arts ecosystem.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $85,000–$110,000, depending on experience.
- Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, holidays, a mission-driven team, and the chance to build technology that directly expands access to the arts.
How to Apply
Please email the following to [email protected]:
- Your resume
- A brief introduction (750 characters or fewer) that includes:
- Your best work
- A hard problem you solved
- Something useful you built with AI
- A workflow you automated
- One thing you are learning for fun
The shorter and clearer, the better.
