Our mission guides all our decisions and actions, emphasizing compassion, integrity, and excellence in service delivery. The Miami Achievement Center is an organization which includes inpatient care facilities, outpatient training programs and facilities, group homes, and a robust team of operations, behavioral, and clinical care staff who provide 24 hour/7 day a week services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Billing and Benefits Specialist will manage Medicaid billing, benefits administration, and revenue cycle activities for a nonprofit serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring accurate billing, timely reimbursements, regulatory compliance, and effective benefits support, thereby contributing to the organization's financial sustainability and mission to empower individuals with disabilities.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

The core job functions of the Billing and Benefits Specialist are:

1. Medicaid Billing and Revenue Management in the state of FL

- Processing and submitting Medicaid claims accurately and promptly.

- Ensuring compliance with Medicaid billing requirements and regulations.

- Monitoring and resolving claim denials or unpaid claims.

- Reconciling payments and maintaining accurate billing records.

- Collaborating with staff to meet service authorization and billing needs.

- Staying current on Medicaid policies and reimbursement procedures.

2. Benefits Administration

- Assisting with employee benefits enrollment, changes, and open enrollment.

- Serving as a resource for employee questions regarding benefits.

- Managing benefits eligibility, deductions, and vendor communications.

- Maintaining benefits documentation and ensuring regulatory compliance.

3. Financial and Administrative Support

- Generating reports related to billing, receivables, and reimbursements.

- Supporting financial reconciliations and audits.

- Maintaining confidential records in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

- Identifying improvements in billing and benefits processes.

4. Client Benefits Coordination

- Verifying Medicaid eligibility and funding for individuals served.

- Assisting staff and families in understanding Medicaid benefits.

- Monitoring renewals and communicating deadlines.

- Coordinating with state agencies and program stakeholders on billing and benefits issues.

Overall, the role combines financial accuracy in Medicaid billing, benefits administration, and supporting the organization’s mission to serve adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

- An associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Human Services, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

- At least 5 years of experience in Medicaid billing in the state of FL, healthcare billing, or nonprofit human services administration.

- Experience working with Medicaid waiver programs and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

- Knowledge of Medicaid regulations, billing procedures, and reimbursement practices.

- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, billing software, and QuickBooks.

- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to handle confidential information professionally and discreetly.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in a related field.

- Experience in a nonprofit organization serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

- Knowledge of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver programs.

- Experience with employee benefits administration.

- Certification such as Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or similar.
