General Description:
Kristi House is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and oversee the day-to-day operations of one of the nation’s leading Children’s Advocacy Centers (CAC).
Serving more than 2,000 children and caregivers annually across multiple locations in Miami-Dade County, the Kristi House CAC provides comprehensive services to child victims of abuse, human trafficking, and other forms of childhood trauma through a multidisciplinary model that brings together law enforcement, prosecutors, medical professionals, mental health providers, child protection investigators, victim advocates, and other community partners.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the COO will provide strategic and operational leadership for a growing organization with approximately 70 employees, multiple facilities, complex government and private funding streams, national accreditation requirements, and significant ongoing capital and programmatic expansion.
The COO will oversee facilities and property management, human resources, information technology, risk management, organizational compliance, administrative operations, and strategic project management. The successful candidate will build and strengthen the operational infrastructure necessary to support a growing, multi-site organization and will lead continuous improvement efforts to ensure organizational effectiveness, scalability, and sustainability.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Executive Leadership
- Serve as administrative partner to the CEO and member of the executive leadership team.
- Help develop and implement organizational goals, priorities, and strategic initiatives.
- Translate strategic objectives into operational plans and measurable outcomes.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
- Support organizational growth and long-term sustainability through strong operational leadership.
Operations Management
- Direct and oversee day-to-day organizational operations across multiple facilities and program locations.
- Evaluate operational systems and processes and recommend improvements to increase organizational
- effectiveness.
- Develop, implement, and monitor organizational policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Develop operational metrics and dashboards to track organizational performance.
- Ensure operational infrastructure supports high-quality service delivery and organizational growth.
Human Resources
- Provide oversight of all human resources functions in partnership with outsourced HR providers and internal staff.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compensation administration, and staff development initiatives.
- Promote a positive workplace culture that supports employee engagement, retention, and professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
Facilities and Property Management
- Oversee the management, maintenance, safety, and operation of all organizational facilities and properties.
- Coordinate capital improvement projects, renovations, facility expansions, and maintenance programs.
- Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, landlords, architects, engineers, and service providers.
- Ensure facilities are safe, secure, accessible, and compliant with applicable regulations.
Information Technology
- Oversee outsourced information technology services and vendors.
- Ensure reliable technology infrastructure, cybersecurity practices, data protection, and business continuity planning.
- Evaluate and implement technology solutions that improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Oversee organizational risk management efforts and insurance programs.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, government contracts, grant requirements, licensing obligations, HIPAA and confidentiality requirements, and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain organizational policies related to safety, security, emergency preparedness, and operational compliance.
- Lead organization re-accreditation processes for the Council on Accreditation and the National Children’s Alliance.
- Support internal audits and monitoring activities.
Organizational Project Management and Strategic Initiatives
- Lead and coordinate major organizational projects and cross-functional initiatives to ensure timely and successful completion.
- Develop project plans, timelines, accountability structures, and performance measures for organizational priorities.
- Monitor progress of strategic initiatives and provide regular status updates to the CEO and executive leadership team.
- Identify operational challenges, barriers, and risks that may impact project success and develop solutions proactively.
Facilitate collaboration across departments to ensure alignment, accountability, and effective execution.
- Lead organizational change management efforts, including process improvements, technology implementations, facility projects, accreditation initiatives, and organizational growth initiatives.
- Establish systems for tracking organizational goals, key performance indicators, and project outcomes.
Communication and Relationship Management
- Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Build productive relationships with staff, leadership, multidisciplinary partners, government agencies,
- vendors, and community stakeholders.
- Effectively facilitate collaboration across departments and disciplines.
- Prepare reports, presentations, policies, and executive-level communications.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in operations, administration, business management, nonprofit management, healthcare administration, government, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience managing professional staff and teams.
- Demonstrated success overseeing multiple operational functions, including human resources, facilities, administration, technology, compliance, risk management, project management, or related areas.
- Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience managing vendors, consultants, and outsourced service providers.
- Proven ability to lead organizational change, improve systems and processes, and implement strategic initiatives.
- Ability to analyze complex issues, make sound decisions, and execute effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Public Administration (MPA), Nonprofit Management,
- Healthcare Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Experience in a Children's Advocacy Center, child welfare organization, behavioral health organization, healthcare system, victim services organization, community health center, government agency, or other complex human services environment.
- Experience supporting organizations that operate under accreditation, licensing, contractual, grant funded, or regulatory requirements.
- Experience overseeing operations across multiple facilities or locations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is in-person, based in Miami-Dade County and requires regular travel between Kristi House locations. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
