Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Social Studies Teacher specializing in Government and Economics to inspire and educate students in understanding the vital principles of civics, government structures, economic systems, and related social sciences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to foster critical thinking, civic responsibility, and economic literacy among diverse learners. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for teaching, expertise in curriculum development, and a passion for engaging students in meaningful discussions about societal issues. You will play a key role in shaping informed citizens ready to participate actively in their communities and the global economy.

Duties

Develop comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, integrating innovative learning technology and instructional design techniques.
Deliver engaging lectures and facilitate interactive classroom discussions on topics such as government functions, political systems, economic theories, and current events.
Create assessments that accurately measure student understanding through standardized testing preparation and formative evaluations.
Incorporate research skills, journalism principles, and creative writing exercises to enhance students’ communication skills and critical analysis.
Mentor students individually or in groups to support academic growth, social-emotional development, and civic engagement.
Manage classroom behavior effectively using proven classroom management strategies to foster a positive learning environment.
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and educational administration initiatives to improve overall program quality.
Utilize literacy education techniques such as proofreading, copy editing, and Chicago Manual of Style standards to enhance student writing assignments.
Support students with special education needs or those requiring additional tutoring by adapting lessons accordingly.
Engage with library services and research resources to supplement lessons with current data and historical context.

Experience

Prior classroom experience teaching social studies at the middle or high school level is required.
Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design tailored to diverse learners.
Proven ability to incorporate learning technology tools effectively within the classroom setting.
Experience working with students from varied backgrounds, including private school environments or Montessori settings preferred.
Strong organizational skills for managing multiple assessments, standardized testing preparations, and academic advising responsibilities.
Knowledge of higher education teaching methods related to civics, economics, linguistics, or related fields is advantageous.
Familiarity with behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies that promote a respectful learning atmosphere.
Commitment to professional growth through ongoing research in education practices and participation in relevant training programs.
