Quality Control Manager – Ready Mix Concrete

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead all quality control operations for a well-established Ready Mix Concrete producer in South Florida.

This leadership position is responsible for overseeing quality assurance programs, managing Quality Control Technicians, developing and maintaining concrete mix designs, supporting multiple ready-mix plants, ensuring compliance with ASTM, ACI, FDOT, and NRMCA standards, and providing technical support to operations, sales, and customers.

The ideal candidate is a proven leader with extensive Ready Mix Concrete quality control experience who can effectively manage a QC department while maintaining the highest standards of product quality, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and supervise the Quality Control Department and Quality Control Technicians.
Develop, review, and optimize concrete mix designs for commercial, residential, industrial, municipal, and DOT projects.
Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, FDOT, NRMCA, and all applicable quality standards.
Review and analyze concrete test results, including compressive strength, slump, air content, unit weight, temperature, and aggregate testing.
Investigate and resolve concrete quality concerns, field performance issues, and customer complaints.
Provide technical support to plant operations, dispatch, sales, and production teams.
Review project specifications and recommend appropriate concrete mix designs for bidding and production.
Oversee laboratory testing, quality documentation, certifications, and reporting.
Monitor batching accuracy, aggregate moisture corrections, plant calibrations, and quality control procedures.
Visit ready-mix plants and project job sites to ensure quality standards are maintained.
Participate in customer meetings, project discussions, and technical presentations as needed.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on concrete quality, production efficiency, and cost optimization.
Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety throughout the Quality Control Department.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Concrete Technology, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent Ready Mix Concrete Quality Control leadership experience will also be considered.
5 years of Ready Mix Concrete Quality Control experience required.
Previous experience leading or supervising a Quality Control team within a Ready Mix Concrete operation is required.
Strong experience developing and optimizing concrete mix designs.
Thorough knowledge of ASTM, ACI, FDOT, and NRMCA standards.
Experience supporting one or multiple ready-mix concrete plants.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality control documentation systems.
Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between plant locations and customer job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification
ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician Certification
NRMCA Quality Certification experience
FDOT concrete materials or quality control experience
Experience with Command Alkon, Sysdyne, Marcotte, or similar batching and quality control software

Schedule

Monday-Friday
Early morning start times required
Saturdays required based on business needs
