Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Set-Up Mechanic to support the setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of manufacturing and packaging equipment. This role is critical to ensuring efficient production line performance, minimizing downtime, and maintaining product quality standards.
The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesLine Setup & Changeovers
- Perform equipment setup, adjustments, and changeovers for a variety of packaging and filling operations.
- Configure and calibrate production equipment to meet product specifications and production schedules.
- Start, test, and fine-tune machinery to ensure production readiness.
- Clean and sanitize production equipment according to established procedures.
- Minimize downtime during changeovers and support production efficiency goals.
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical equipment issues.
- Disassemble machinery and replace or repair defective components.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with production teams to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Inspect components for wear and dimensional changes.
- Lubricate machinery and maintain equipment in optimal operating condition.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Equipment & Process Support
- Assist with equipment trials, tooling requirements, and process improvements.
- Support installation, qualification, and validation of new equipment.
- Train and mentor less experienced mechanics as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reliability.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to FDA, cGMP, and quality system requirements where applicable.
- Maintain accurate documentation and equipment records.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork.
QualificationsExperience
- Previous experience as a Set-Up Mechanic, Maintenance Mechanic, Electro-Mechanical Technician, or similar role in:
- Personal Care Manufacturing
- Cosmetics Manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
- Food & Beverage Manufacturing
- Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Manufacturing
Technical Skills
Experience working with some or all of the following equipment:
- Aerosol filling systems
- Bag-on-Valve (BOV) filling systems
- Valve placement and crimping equipment
- High-pressure filling systems
- Rotary indexing equipment
- Liquid fillers
- Tube fillers
- Cappers
- Labelers
- Conveyors
- Checkweighers
- Coders and printers
- Sleevers and heat tunnels
- Pumps and pneumatic systems
- PLC-controlled equipment
- Compressed air systems
Additional Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working around industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment
Schedule
- Full-Time
- Standard hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- Flexibility required for overtime and occasional Saturdays based on production needs
- Candidates with availability to support future second-shift operations (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM) are strongly preferred
- Ability to assist with training and onboarding employees on alternate shifts as business needs evolve
