Full Job Description

Why this role

You'll work directly with the firm's Principal PE on active public infrastructure projects in South Florida — Miami-Dade water and pump station programs, North Miami Beach CIP projects, Bay Harbor Islands municipal facilities, Port Everglades shore power electrification, and Miami-Dade Aviation Department CIP support. You won't be doing redlines for a year — you'll be running design tasks, sitting in client and agency coordination meetings, and on jobsites within your first 60 days.

Who we're looking for

A civil engineer 3+ years into their career who wants to stamp drawings, not stay in a CAD seat. Working toward licensure or already there, comfortable in Civil 3D, and excited to work on the kind of public infrastructure projects that take 3–10 years and end up named on a plaque.

What you'll own

Design calculations, exhibits, technical memoranda, and plan production in AutoCAD Civil 3D for pump stations, pipelines, drainage/stormwater, roadway, streetlight, and public facility projects
Permit packages and agency coordination (WASD, DTPW, FDOT, municipal)
Submittal and RFI reviews during construction phase
Site visits, field assessments, and reporting back to PM/client
Coordination with municipal clients, agencies, and contractors
Progress reporting, meeting agendas, and minutes

First 90 days success looks like

Active on 2–4 concurrent projects. Owning design or permit deliverables on at least one. Comfortable running an RFI/submittal log without supervision. Building direct working relationships with agency reviewers and project stakeholders.

Required

BS Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited)
3+ years civil engineering experience, including at least 1 year on public-sector projects
EIT or PE certification (or clear path to EIT within 90 days of hire)
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Working knowledge of ArcGIS (or demonstrated ability to come up to speed in 60 days)
Strong written communication — you'll be drafting memos, agency responses, and client emails weekly
Authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer on a long-term basis, without current or future need for employer-sponsored work authorization (TEC does not provide visa sponsorship, including OPT-to-H-1B conversions)
Reliable commute to Aventura, FL (in-office with field days; flex on a case-by-case basis)

Preferred

PE license (FL, or eligible for comity) — significant comp upside
Hands-on experience with pump stations, water/sewer utilities, drainage, roadway, or streetlight programs
