Salary Range: $160,000 - $180,00 annually (commensurate with experience)

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking highly skilled and dedicated Spay/Neuter Surgeon to join our team as a full-time salaried veterinarian. This position will serve as the medical lead of our high-volume clinic, responsible for all clinical decision-making and oversight of medical protocols.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform an average of 25–30 high-quality, high-volume surgical sterilizations daily on shelter and public animals, adhering to standard care practices and Association of Shelter Veterinarians Guidelines.
- Conduct soft tissue surgeries as needed, including enucleations, mass removals, and other procedures for shelter cats and dogs.
- Serve as the medical authority in the clinic, overseeing daily veterinary care, including physical exams, anesthetic monitoring, surgery, pre- and post-operative care, emergency response, and treatment according to established SOPs.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in EzyVet and/or Pet Point, documenting exam findings, treatments, surgical outcomes, follow-ups, and client interactions.
- Provide leadership in upholding ethical, safe, and compassionate veterinary care, and respond promptly to medical and surgical emergencies.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with veterinary assistants, clinic staff, and leadership regarding medical decisions and recommendations.
- Participate in the review and refinement of anesthesia protocols and other SOPs during medical or all-staff meetings.
- Attend staff and doctor meetings, and pursue continuing education as required by the State of Florida and the Humane Society of Greater Miami.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the clinic and shelter's mission.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from an accredited institution required.
- Active Florida Veterinary License (or ability to obtain one).
- Demonstrated experience in high-volume spay/neuter surgery (25–30 per day).
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to lead medical operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to animal welfare, shelter medicine, and community impact.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lifting and carrying animals and equipment over 50 pounds.
- Walking, standing, sitting for prolonged periods depending on the task.
- Frequent reaching, bending, kneeling, squatting, and stooping to care for animals and clean areas.
- Ability to work in environments that may involve handling animals, dealing with various animal medical conditions, and exposure to animal-related hazards.
