Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Philanthropy Associate to join our dedicated development team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for administrative support to the Philanthropy team, including assistance with portfolio management, donor support and coordination of assigned events. You will assist in driving strategic fundraising initiatives, fostering meaningful donor relationships, and supporting the organization’s mission to create lasting social impact. Your energetic approach and meticulous attention to detail will help amplify our outreach efforts, enhance donor engagement, and ensure the success of our philanthropic programs. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects while developing your expertise in nonprofit fundraising, relationship management, and digital marketing.

Responsibilities

Administrative Support:

· Adds and maintains records of donors, gifts, prospects, professional advisors and events in Daxco

· Provides department staff with monthly donation information (such as balances, grantmaking and gift history) as needed

· Provides general administrative support for the Director of Philanthropy and Chief Philanthropy Officer and other Department staff as assigned including preparing materials; filing; creating Word/Excel or PowerPoint documents or presentations; taking notes or minutes; and arranging travel and lodging for Department staff

· Research potential grants from foundations and government agencies.

· Supports grantmaking work of specialized donors and provides administrative support, including processing grants, scheduling and coordinating check-in meetings and updating giving plans

· Assists in the planning, organizing and oversight of the Philanthropy committee meetings and provides other administrative support, including meeting minutes, maintenance of electronic materials and database records

· Organizes logistics for special events (donor receptions, birthdays, openings) including attendance lists; ordering food; follow-up communications/telephone calls; mailing invitations; maintaining RSVP lists; attending and marketing the event(s).

Performs other duties as assigned

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and judgment

· Strong relationship and customer service skills, both internally and externally

· Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment

· Ability to update website and digital display information

· Effective written and verbal communication skills, including formal presentation preparation

· Ability to organize multiple tasks/projects, as well as prioritize tasks within projects

· Attention to detail and ability to work under deadline pressure

· Ability to be self-directed, as well as work in teams

· Initiative, independent judgment, resourcefulness, and flexibility

· Belief in the mission and purpose of the David Posnack JCC.

Job Characteristics:

· May require long periods of time at a computer

· Night and/or weekend work may occasionally be required

· Travel may be required between various sites in South Florida, including Davie and Fort Lauderdale sites

· Multi-tasker

Essential Qualifications:

· A combination of education or relevant work experience equal to the needs of the role.

· Previous experience in nonprofit philanthropy/development preferred

· Strong computer and technical skills and ability to learn new technologies quickly; including MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and routine database activity; experience with Daxco preferred but not required.

· Ability to work with standard office equipment and other technology

· Valid driver’s license
