Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Medical Biller specializing in Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) to join our team. You will focus exclusively on specialized NEMT claim submission, broker trip-log reconciliation, and denial management. This position is primarily on-site with the possibility of transitioning to a hybrid schedule after training and performance metrics are met. Experience with Quickbooks and CollaborateMD (CMD) is a significant plus but not required; we will train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

NEMT Claim Management: Manage the full backend claim lifecycle within the practice management system, ensuring clean CMS-1500 and broker portal submissions.
Trip Log Reconciliation: Reconcile NEMT trip sheets, driver logs, and mileage tracking against broker schedules to prevent billing discrepancies.
Technical Denial Resolution: Troubleshoot and rapidly resolve, correct, and appeal denied NEMT claims, missing prior authorizations, or modifier errors.
Payment Posting: Accurately post insurance electronic remittance advices (ERAs), explanations of benefits (EOBs), and payments.
Accounts Receivable: Monitor aging A/R reports and leverage reporting tools to aggressively reduce outstanding insurance balances.
Digital Workflows: Manage, share, and track billing documentation, trip logs, and internal policies digitally using team collaboration platforms.

Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of dedicated medical billing experience. Prior experience with NEMT or broker-based billing (e.g., ModivCare, Veyo, Medicaid, auto workman's compensation) is highly preferred.
Code Familiarity: Solid grasp of specialized HCPCS codes (e.g., A0130, A0100, T2003), ICD-10, CPT, base rates, mileage multipliers, and NEMT-specific modifiers.
Advanced Office Skills: Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including:
Microsoft Outlook: For high-volume, organized, and professional email communication.
Microsoft SharePoint: For organizing trip logs, files, and navigating shared company portals.
Microsoft Excel: For compiling, sorting, and tracking ride data using filters and basic formulas

Employment Requirements

Screening: Must pass a mandatory criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening prior to official hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Software Mastery: Direct experience using CollaborateMD (CMD) is highly preferred but not required.
Industry Credentials: Active Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential.(preferred)
