Multi-Line Property and Casualty Claims Representative — East Lansing, MI
Full-Time: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Salary: 75,000 - 85,000 Annually | Reports to Claims Manager

Applicants MUST have prior experience handling Commercial casualty claims, including general liability.

Personnel World, Inc. is recruiting on behalf of a client in the insurance industry for an experienced Multi-Line Property and Casualty Claims Representative.

About the Role

This role is responsible for the prompt, fair, and efficient handling of a diverse caseload of Property and Casualty claims — general liability, auto liability, auto physical damage, personal injury protection (PIP), property, medical payments, and select specialty coverages. You'll serve as a primary point of contact for members, delivering high-quality service through timely communication, sound judgment, and consistent adherence to organizational standards. The ideal candidate brings strong technical claims knowledge, excellent communication skills, and experience working with public entities and third-party vendors.

What You'll Do

Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve assigned claims in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal claims handling standards
Serve as a primary contact for members, providing high-quality customer service in a fast-paced environment
Maintain accurate, timely, well-organized documentation in the claims management system while managing multiple active claims
Deliver clear, accurate, customer-friendly coverage explanations and written correspondence
Negotiate claims within established settlement authority and notify leadership when claims trend toward or exceed authority limits
Assign, coordinate, and monitor work performed by outside investigators, third-party vendors, law firms, and attorneys
Review medical bills, legal damage estimates, and miscellaneous invoices for reasonableness, and negotiate disputed bills
Assign litigated claims to approved law firms/attorneys and monitor progress; attend facilitations/mediations as assigned
Manage a diary system to move losses to timely conclusion
Collaborate with internal risk management, underwriting, and claims leadership teams

What You'll Need

Required:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of claims experience handling multi-line claims, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Working knowledge of coverage, liability, and complex claims handling procedures
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to prioritize, multitask, meet deadlines, and follow up independently
High level of professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive claim information
Strong cognitive and analytical skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
Willingness to pursue industry-recognized claims designations (IIA, AIC, INS, or similar)
Ability to travel and work remotely on a periodic basis

Primarily desk-based (sit/stand desk) with average office mobility and several hours per day at a computer. Occasional in-state travel required. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required.
