Full Job Description

Position Title: REDCAP Data Manager

Reports To: Hemostasis and Thrombosis Nursing Director/Premiere Healthcare Services Program Manager

Department: Hematology

Type: Non- Exempt

Position Purpose:

The REDCap Data Manager is part of the hemostasis and thrombosis center team who works alongside physicians, clinic nurses, research nurses, Central Michigan University (CMU)/ University Pediatricians (UPeds) Clinical Research Center staff and Wayne State University Clinical Research Center staff. They will be responsible for developing REDCap databases that will subsequently aid in performing duties that assists in improving clinical care and outcomes for patients diagnosed with bleeding and clotting diagnoses including collecting activity data and providing numeric reports.

The Expectations for this current position include, but are not limited to the following:

Demonstrates proficiency in managing work responsibilities by exhibiting confidence and ability to take the lead with minimal guidance with developing and maintaining REDCap databases to enable efficient data storage and retrieval;
Apply data mining to identify trends and patterns in complex data sets;
Manage large sets of data and ensuring the accuracy and integrity across multiple sources;
Establishes and maintains policies and procedures for gathering, analyzing and reporting clinical data;
Work collaboratively with cross-functional team members to identify key data needs and requirements;

· Analyzes healthcare data to assist in delivering optimal healthcare management, streamline processes and support decision making;

· Create detailed reports data visualizations and dashboards to effectively communicate insights;

· Creation of data management plans and other data management documentation as needed with minimal oversight;

· Contributes to process improvement;

· Performs data cleaning and quality control activities;

· Assist in the development and maintenance of study documentation;

· Works with primary records to collect clinical data of patients;

· Reviews and validates data;

· Collaborates with staff to assist with the collection, interpretation and analysis of research data, as applicable.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science or related discipline required.

· Minimum 2 years experience of clinical data management experience.

· Analytical and problem solving skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent organizational skills.

· Understanding of computer languages within databases.

· Understanding of database design and construction.

· Enthusiasm for working at the intersection of healthcare and technology

Desired Qualifications:

· Experience working with Redcap database

· Master’s degree

Functional and Technical Competencies:

· Proficient in computer technology used in an office environment (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).

· Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and regulatory requirements regarding clinical data management documentation and software.

· Experience with REDCap study management.

· Knowledge of medical terminology and use of coding dictionaries.

Working Conditions:

1. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds with or without assistance.

2. Able to complete duties under stress, deadlines, and while attending to multiple duties simultaneously.

3. Prolonged computer related exposure, as well as sitting and standing at workstations for long periods of time.

4. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

5. Bending, sitting, and standing frequently throughout the day.

6. Occasionally travel off-site for meetings, conferences, seminars, and training.
