Full Job Description

Senior Staff Accountant - Assurance Focused - (Active CPA License in State of Michigan Required)

Lally Group, PC, is a growing full‑service accounting and consulting firm committed to our team members and dedicated to being a trusted business advisor to our clients. We are seeking to add an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to our Jackson / Lansing MI team. (*_Active CPA License for the STATE OF MICHIGAN_ is Required). While this is a hybrid position, both offices are in Michigan and 98% of our clients are in Michigan. You must be able to be in office 2-3 days a week. No relocation available.*

The qualified candidate will provide high‑level assurance, accounting, tax, and consulting services to firm clients and support engagement execution, client relationships, and staff development.

Responsibilities include:

Assurance & Accounting Services

Lead and perform audit, review, and compilation engagements for privately held companies, nonprofits, and municipalities
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Perform complex account analysis and financial reviews
Apply auditing and accounting standards appropriately

Tax Services

Prepare and review business and individual tax returns
Assist with tax planning and client consulting engagements
Stay current on federal, state, and local tax regulations

Client Service & Collaboration

Serve as a primary client contact on assigned engagements
Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and engagement teams
Collaborate with Managers and Partners on engagement planning and delivery

Leadership & Firm Support

Review work prepared by Staff Accountants and interns
Provide mentoring and on‑the‑job guidance
Identify engagement efficiencies and process improvements
Contribute to firm culture and operational initiatives

Overtime hours throughout tax season based on client deliverable demands and due dates should be expected.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required)
Active CPA license in the State of Michigan (required)
2-6+ years of preparing and reviewing Individual, and business tax returns, public accounting experience, including assurance engagements (required)
Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, regulatory reporting / auditing standards, and tax regulations
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks
Experience with financial analysis
Excellent skills in financial report writing
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
