Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will manage and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and supporting the organization’s financial health. Your expertise will help streamline accounting processes, facilitate precise reporting, and contribute to the overall success of our organization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your accounting skills in a fast-paced environment dedicated to making a positive impact.

Responsibilities

Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems
Process payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing and collections
Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy
Prepare journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and analyze account activity for discrepancies
Assist with financial report writing, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other applicable accounting standards
Support budgeting processes by tracking expenses and preparing variance analyses
Conduct account analysis and general ledger reconciliation to maintain data integrity
Utilize spreadsheets extensively for data analysis, reporting, and record keeping
Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations

Experience

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role with a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles
Demonstrated proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or comparable systems
Solid knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation
Experience working within corporate or non-profit accounting environments preferred
Familiarity with payroll processing procedures and related compliance requirements
Strong skills in spreadsheets for data analysis and financial reporting purposes
Knowledge of GAAP standards and technical accounting practices is highly desirable
Prior experience in public accounting or working with multiple clients is a plus
