Role Overview
The HR Generalist is responsible for day-to-day human resources and payroll administration, including recruiting support, onboarding, employee records, benefits administration and enrollment, timekeeping, payroll processing, employee support, and reporting. This role works closely with managers and employees to resolve routine issues, maintain accurate records, and ensure HR processes are completed consistently and on time. As part of a small and growing organization, the HR Generalist will be expected to work cross-functionally and assist in other administrative and business areas as needed.
Key Responsibilities
· Payroll Administration: Prepare and process payroll accurately and on schedule, including reviewing hours, pay rates, deductions, reimbursements, bonuses, and other payroll-related changes before submission.
· Timekeeping Management: Review employee time records, enter approved missed punches and corrections, follow up with employees and managers on discrepancies, and help ensure timecards are complete and approved by established deadlines.
· Manage Temporary Staffing Partnerships: Serve as the primary point of contact for outside staffing agencies supporting temporary and temp-to-hire employees. Work with accounting to reconcile time cards and payments.
· Employee Onboarding: Coordinate new-hire paperwork, employment eligibility verification, payroll and system setup, policy acknowledgements, orientation, and communication with managers to support a smooth first-day and onboarding experience.
· Benefits and Employee Enrollments: Assist employees with benefit elections, new-hire enrollments, qualifying life events, annual open enrollment, and general questions regarding available plans and deductions; coordinate updates with benefit providers and work with benefit enrollments for year-end open enrollment.
· Employee Support: Serve as an accessible first point of contact for employees regarding payroll, benefits, policies, leave, timekeeping, and other routine HR questions, escalating sensitive or complex matters to the CFO and COO as appropriate.
· Manager Support: Work with supervisors and managers on attendance, documentation, performance matters, employee changes, staffing needs, and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
· Recruiting and Hiring Support: Post open positions, review applications, coordinate interviews, conduct reference or background-check steps as assigned, prepare offer and new-hire documentation, and maintain communication with candidates and hiring managers.
· Employee Records and HR Systems: Maintain accurate and confidential personnel, payroll, benefits, training, and employment records in HR and payroll systems; process employee status, compensation, position, department, and contact-information changes; work with JobBOSS, the company’s MRP system, to support employee, labor, and timekeeping information; and evaluate payroll and HR software options to recommend and help implement solutions that best meet the company’s needs; maintain updated employee list with Fastenal for employee supply machines.
· Compliance and Documentation: Support compliance with employment-related requirements and company policies, including required notices, personnel-file documentation, I-9 records, leave administration, and retention of HR and payroll records.
· Employee Changes and Offboarding: Process promotions, transfers, compensation changes, leave status, separations, final payroll information, benefit notifications, return of company property, and other employee-status changes.
· Reporting and Analysis: Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports on headcount, attendance, overtime, payroll, turnover, benefits, staffing, and other workforce metrics; review information for accuracy and identify items requiring follow-up.
· Policy and Process Improvement: Create and maintain HR forms, job descriptions, policies, standard procedures, and employee communications, and recommend improvements that increase consistency, accuracy, efficiency, and employee understanding.
· Confidentiality and Professionalism: Handle employee, payroll, compensation, medical, and business information with discretion and maintain a professional, responsive, and service-oriented approach.
· General Administrative Support: Assist with other business needs as assigned, including data entry, accounting support, reporting, and special projects. As part of a small and growing company, this position must be flexible and willing to take on responsibilities outside of traditional HR functions when needed.
Qualifications
· Education and Experience: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
· Minimum 2 years of practical experience supporting HR, payroll, benefits, or employee administration.
· Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge of payroll and timekeeping processes, employee onboarding, benefits administration, recordkeeping, and general employment practices; strong attention to detail, organization, judgment, and follow-through are required.
· Communication and Technology: Ability to communicate clearly with employees and managers, maintain confidentiality, manage competing deadlines, and work effectively with payroll, HR, Microsoft Office, reporting systems, and provide support to employees.
· Preferred Qualifications: Manufacturing and operations experience.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Onsite role at our Ocala manufacturing facility, combining office work with regular presence on the production floor. Must be able to perform typical office activities and move about the facility.

Work Location: In person
