Job Overview
Xplicit Technologies, LLC is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Custodial Technician to support our federal custodial services contract with the National Park Service (NPS), U.S. Department of the Interior, at Cedar Creek & Belle Grove National Historical Park in Middletown, Virginia.
This is a low-hour, recurring part-time position ideal for someone seeking dependable supplemental income. Custodial services are performed at two nearby National Park Service facilities in Middletown:

Services are generally required every other week, approximately 26 service visits per year. The position is expected to average approximately 6–10 hours per month, although actual hours may vary depending on cleaning pace and facility needs.
Responsibilities
The Custodial Technician will be responsible for maintaining clean, sanitary, and professional National Park Service facilities. Duties include:
- Vacuuming carpeted areas
- Sweeping and mopping hard-surface floors
- Cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, toilets, sinks, mirrors, and fixtures
- Restocking toilet paper, paper towels, and soap
- Dusting desks, shelves, file cabinets, windowsills, and other surfaces
- Removing cobwebs and accumulated dust
- Cleaning kitchen countertops, sinks, and exposed appliance surfaces
- Emptying trash receptacles and replacing liners
- Cleaning entrance doors, glass, handles, and other high-touch surfaces
- Carefully dusting designated exhibits using approved cleaning methods
- Completing a final walkthrough to ensure all required areas meet established cleaning standards
- Reporting maintenance concerns, damage, or unusual facility conditions when observed
Equipment and Supplies
Xplicit Technologies, LLC will provide the equipment and supplies necessary to perform the work. Government-furnished cleaning products and restroom consumables will also be available at the facilities.
The employee is not expected to purchase routine cleaning equipment or supplies out of pocket.
Federal Background Investigation
Because this position involves access to federal facilities, the selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a federal background investigation and credentialing/access process before receiving independent facility access.
All required federal background investigation and credentialing expenses will be paid for. There is no cost to the selected employee for this process.
Candidates must be willing and able to complete all required paperwork and appointments in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will:
- Be dependable and consistently available for scheduled service visits
- Have strong attention to detail
- Be comfortable working independently
- Be able to follow written cleaning procedures and federal facility requirements
- Be able to safely operate standard custodial equipment
- Be able to perform physical cleaning duties, including bending, reaching, standing, walking, and lifting routine cleaning equipment and supplies
- Maintain professional conduct while working in a federal facility
- Be able to successfully complete required federal background and access procedures
Previous janitorial, housekeeping, commercial cleaning, or federal facility experience is preferred but not required for a dependable candidate with a strong work ethic.
Schedule
Services are performed approximately every other week, totaling approximately 26 service visits annually.
The exact recurring service day and work hours will be coordinated based on National Park Service operational and facility-access requirements.
Compensation
$16.00–$19.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Approximately 6–10 hours per month anticipated.
