GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Responsible for providing advanced engineering, design, and construction management of manufacturing facilities, systems, and equipment; and providing engineering and technical support for complex production and processing equipment in a heavily regulated hazardous chemical Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Participates in and lead project teams for large projects and manage multiple smaller projects simultaneously; projects may range from $20K - $3M.
· Develops project scope, obtains competitive bids, writes Capital Appropriation Request forms, develops capital project implementation plans and schedules, and manages project teams to deliver the project within guidelines of safety, cost, time, and quality.
· Consults and advises Operations on all technical and engineering aspects of equipment operations.
· Interacts and coordinates activities with Operations, Process Engineers, QC, QA, SHE, IT, and Maintenance personnel.
· Troubleshoots, develops solutions, and reports on findings of equipment problems.
· Reviews equipment installations and takes action to ensure that cGMP and Safety procedures and regulations have been addressed and followed.
· Develops and evaluates new concepts, specifications, and procedures to stay competitive and current with the industry.
· Specifies design parameters for equipment required for new initiatives.
· Provides technical leadership and direction to contract engineering firms in support of capital projects.
· Establishes standards and policies providing technical support for manufacturing processes which may include plant programs, validation protocols, pollution control, installation, modification, quality control, testing, operating procedures, inspection, and maintenance of equipment.
· Facilitates process hazard analysis for assigned projects.
ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Trains operations staff on newly installed process equipment.
· Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines including FDA, EPA, OSHA and DEA. Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
· Successfully complete regulatory and job training requirements.
· Understands and responsibly performs duties with attention to safety, quality, and environmental matters. Items include; wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, recognizing, reporting, and appropriately responding to hazards in the work area (spills/accidents/near misses), maintaining proper housekeeping, properly labeling and storing chemicals, plus all other relevant job requirements.
· Makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by:

· Remains current in skills and industry trend.
· Participates on investigative teams and site group initiatives (e.g. PHAs, RCA, etc.).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct Siegfried employee supervisory responsibilities, however supervision of contract engineers may be required during times of high project loading.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related Engineering Field and 5-10 years of experience managing capital construction projects in a chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment; Professional Engineer license desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
· Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
· Respond to sensitive inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
· Effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
· Apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
· Apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
· Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
· Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS ABILITIES OR QUALIFICATIONS
· Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing processes and equipment preferred.
· Ability to use software, including word processing and mathematical applications, customize it and provide some troubleshooting for business needs.
· Ability to interact with staff from all levels of the organization in a team environment.
· Ability to manage and adhere to Management of Change (MOC) program.
· Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements as requested.
· Ability to perform a variety of duties, maintain attention to detail and speed without a loss to production.
