American Overhead Door & Dock (AOHDD) is an established, well-capitalized commercial overhead door and loading dock platform with a long-standing reputation for quality, responsiveness, and technical expertise across its existing markets. Backed by strong financial performance and a disciplined leadership team, AOHDD is expanding into a new geography and is seeking a General Manager to lead this exciting next chapter of growth.
This is a rare opportunity to join a proven, high-performing company at a pivotal moment, bringing the strength, systems, and customer reputation of an established organization into a new market. The General Manager will have the full backing of the corporate infrastructure, existing account relationships, operational best practices, and a supportive senior leadership team, while also enjoying the autonomy, visibility, and impact that comes with building and leading a branch from the ground up.
For the right leader, this role offers the best of both worlds: the stability and resources of a long-standing company with the entrepreneurial runway to shape the direction, culture, and success of a new market for years to come.
Position Overview
The General Manager is the senior on-the-ground leader responsible for launching, scaling, and owning the full performance of AOHDD's new branch. This role carries full P&L ownership and is accountable for building the customer base, team, and commercial pipeline required to move the branch from launch to sustained profitability.
The position requires a hands-on, builder mindset with a distinctly commercial orientation. In the early stages, success is defined by market entry, customer acquisition, brand establishment, and recurring revenue development. The General Manager is expected to personally lead commercial efforts, open doors, and be visible in the market while simultaneously building out the operational foundation required to deliver reliably on every commitment made.
As the branch matures, this role transitions into a traditional branch leader model with full responsibility for financial performance, team development, customer retention, operational excellence, and continued market expansion. The General Manager serves as the face of AOHDD in the market and is directly accountable to the EVP of Operations and senior leadership for branch results.
Responsibilities & Expectations
Commercial Growth & Market Development (Primary Focus)
- Own the commercial strategy and execution required to establish AOHDD in the new market, including target customer identification, territory planning, and brand presence.
- Personally lead outside sales efforts in the early stages of branch operation — engaging end users, general contractors, property managers, 3PLs, industrial accounts, and facility decision-makers.
- Build and expand the installed base through new customer acquisition, recurring service agreements, and planned maintenance program growth.
- Develop and execute a targeted account strategy across core verticals, including logistics and distribution, industrial manufacturing, food and beverage, cold storage, and commercial property management.
- Partner with Senior Sales leadership to leverage existing national account relationships as a market-entry accelerator.
- Set and meet commercial milestones for booked revenue and recurring revenue contracts during the ramp period.
- Represent AOHDD at local industry associations, trade events, and customer engagements to accelerate brand recognition and credibility in the market.
P&L Ownership & Financial Performance
- Own full branch P&L performance, including revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and EBITDA.
- Monitor financial performance against plan and take timely corrective action on revenue, margin, or cost variances.
- Ensure disciplined pricing, labor productivity, and material cost management across all service, PM, and retrofit work.
- Provide accurate monthly forecasts, variance analysis, and commentary to senior leadership.
Operational Execution & Service Delivery
- Assist in the establishment of branch operating infrastructure, including facility setup, fleet, inventory, and administrative function alignment.
- Build a scalable execution model that delivers responsive service, high first-time-fix rates, and strong customer retention from day one.
- Oversee technician utilization, job costing, and project execution to ensure consistent on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Partner with corporate operations, and business leadership to implement AOHDD-standard processes, systems, and compliance programs.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, OSHA compliance, DOT requirements, and company operating procedures across all field and facility activities.
- Maintain operational readiness to scale — anticipating hiring, fleet, and inventory needs ahead of demand.
Team Building & Leadership
- Assist in the initial recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and development of the branch service team.
- Establish a clear performance culture grounded in accountability, safety, customer focus, and execution discipline.
- Provide direct coaching, mentoring, and development to team to build bench strength and long-term capability.
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning, compensation structure, employee engagement, and retention strategies specific to the new market.
- Set the tone for the branch as the senior on-site leader — visible, engaged, and operating with a builder's mindset.
Customer Experience & Retention
- Own the customer experience in the new market and establish AOHDD as the most responsive, reliable, and technically competent provider.
- Build durable relationships with key accounts, including regular site visits, executive engagement, and post-service follow-up.
- Resolve escalations personally where appropriate, particularly during the branch ramp period when relationships are being established.
- Ensure planned maintenance programs, service agreements, and retrofit opportunities are actively developed across the customer base.
Strategic Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the senior representative of AOHDD in the market and a key member of the broader branch leadership team.
- Partner closely with the senior leadership team to align branch execution with enterprise strategy.
- Collaborate with established branches to share best practices, resources, and talent where appropriate.
- Provide regular performance updates, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations to the CEO and senior leadership.
- Identify and recommend future growth opportunities within the market, including geographic expansion, new service lines, or strategic customer partnerships.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within overhead door, loading dock, industrial service, specialty trades, or a closely related field service business.
- Demonstrated P&L ownership at a branch, region, or general manager level, with a clear track record of delivering revenue and EBITDA growth.
- Strong commercial orientation with direct experience leading outside sales, building installed-base customer relationships, and growing recurring revenue.

- Deep working knowledge of service operations, technician workforce management, dispatch, and project execution in a trade-based environment.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, build, and lead high-performing field teams.
- Financial acumen sufficient to own a full P&L, manage a budget, and interpret operational and financial performance metrics.
- Strong knowledge of safety, regulatory, and compliance standards applicable to field service operations (OSHA, DOT, etc.).
- Established relationships or credibility within the target market highly preferred but not required.
- Willingness to be highly present in the market, including customer site visits, field support, and community engagement during the ramp phase.
