Position Summary
The Outreach Education Coordinator develops and delivers engaging educational programs that promote health, wellness, lifelong learning, and social connection among older adults. This position plays a key role in expanding educational programming at our outlying Activity & Dining Centers and supports community health initiatives throughout the service area.
Key Responsibilities for the Outreach Education Coordinator
Program Development & Facilitation
- Plan and facilitate educational programs and presentations at Activity & Dining Centers, with a focus on locations outside the City of Midland.
- Assist in leading evidence-based health and wellness programs (training provided).
- Adapt presentations and teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and participant needs.
- Provide occasional support for group facilitation and fitness-related programming.
Community Health Clinic Support
- Coordinate logistics for annual vaccine clinics, including scheduling, setup, and communication.
- Assist with communication and coordination efforts involving volunteer blood pressure screening.
Planning & Evaluation
- Collaborate with the Director of Education and Outreach to develop and maintain program schedules and calendars.
- Coordinate guest speakers, educational materials, and program supplies.
- Track attendance and gather participant feedback to support program evaluation and continuous improvement.
Travel & Program Support
- Travel regularly between Midland and outlying Activity & Dining Centers (mileage reimbursement provided).
- Assist with light program setup, breakdown, and material transport as needed.
Qualifications for the Outreach Education Coordinator
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and connect with diverse groups of older adults.
- Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
- Comfortable coordinating multiple programs and schedules.
- Basic computer skills, including email and scheduling tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel locally throughout the service area.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to assist with light program setup and event preparation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Health Education, Public Health, or a related field.
- Experience developing and teaching educational programs.
- Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and rapport with participants.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with public speaking, group facilitation, or community program planning.
- Experience working with older adults or in community-based programming.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
