Full Job Description

About the Role

C&D Roustabout is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting functions in-house. This role works directly with the owner and serves as the primary liaison to our outside CPA and accounting firms. Beyond core accounting duties, this position plays a key analytical role — building per-asset profitability reporting across our truck fleet and delivering the financial insight the owner needs to make sound operational decisions.This is a hands-on position for someone who can both keep the books clean and dig into the numbers to explain what they mean.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

Provide financial oversight of company books, including account reconciliations
Prepare and deliver regular financial reports to the owner to support decision-making
Identify and explain fluctuations (flux analysis) within the P&L
Assist with payroll processing
Gather and provide documentation and supporting information to the outside accountant to support monthly close-outs
Assist the company's CPA firm and accounting firm as needed

Fleet & Asset Analysis

Create and maintain individual P&Ls for each fleet asset (per truck)
Assess fleet utilization and identify under-utilized and over-utilized units
Monitor and audit fuel consumption and utilization
Provide unit and driver assessments based on profitability

Systems & Process Improvement

Create, improve, and streamline accounting systems and internal processes
Develop reporting tools and workflows that improve visibility for ownership

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of accounting experience
Proficiency in both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop (required)
Strong reconciliation and financial reporting skills
Experience with payroll processing
Ability to build and interpret P&L reports; flux analysis experience preferred
Excel proficiency for reporting and analysis
Self-directed, organized, and comfortable working directly with ownership
Oilfield services or trucking/fleet industry experience a plus
