Who You Are:
Dower & Associates is hiring an experienced CPA Senior Manager to lead complex tax and accounting engagements for our business owner, real estate investor, and high-net-worth clients. This is a proactive advisory seat, not a compliance-only role. We reach out to clients before they chase us, and display full ownership of client relationships, technical excellence across tax and accounting, and active contribution to the firm's growth.
What You'll Do:
You own your client portfolio, lead engagements from planning through delivery, develop the team, and help grow the firm.
-
Own the client relationship and the technical quality of every engagement in your portfolio.
-
Lead across both tax and accounting, not a single service line.
-
Contribute directly to business development and firm growth.
-
Mentor and develop seniors and staff as a firm leader.
Engagement Oversight and Management
-
Plan, manage, and review complex individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns.
-
Oversee accounting and financial reporting engagements, including financial statement preparation, general ledger review, and month-end close, in line with GAAP.
-
Ensure client deliverables are accurate, timely, and exceed expectations.
-
Coordinate resources and oversee engagement budgets to maintain efficiency and profitability.
Client Relationship Management and Advisory
-
Serve as the primary advisor and trusted point of contact for an assigned client portfolio.
-
Develop and implement proactive tax planning strategies that reduce clients' largest expense: taxes.
-
Advise on entity structuring, transaction planning, and multistate and state nexus (SALT) exposure.
-
Deliver specialized real estate tax strategies, including cost segregation, 1031 exchanges, entity structuring, and short-term rental (STR) planning.
-
Represent clients before the IRS and state taxing authorities during examinations and notices.
Team Leadership and Development
-
Mentor and develop managers, seniors, and staff accountants, supporting their professional growth.
-
Review work performed by team members for accuracy and compliance with firm and regulatory standards.
-
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
Business Development and Strategic Growth
-
Expand relationships with existing clients to identify additional service opportunities.
-
Pursue new client acquisition and collaborate with leadership on growth strategy.
-
Represent the firm at client meetings and industry events, and through networking and thought leadership.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
-
Monitor engagement compliance with professional standards, regulations, and ethical requirements.
-
Stay current on federal, state, and local tax law and accounting standard changes, and advise clients and staff on the impact.
-
Ensure quality control procedures are applied consistently across engagements.
