About Us:
StarCity Behavioral Health is dedicated to supporting individuals in their journey to recovery via its ASAM Level 3.1 (Low Intensity Clinically-Managed Residential Treatment), 2.5 (Partial Hospitalization), and ASAM Level 2.1 (Intensive Outpatient) Treatment Programs. We provide a compassionate and empowering environment that promotes wellness, recovery, and resilience. Our team is committed to making a difference in the lives of those we serve. We utilize a Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care approach to provide comprehensive assessment, treatment, and care coordination for all individuals.

Position Overview:

The passionate, skilled, and dedicated Group Facilitator who joins our team will report to the Program Director and be able to successfully facilitate therapeutic groups that support individuals with primary substance use disorders (and co-occurring mental health diagnoses) on their journey to sustained recovery and improved well-being. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, clinical knowledge, and a deep understanding of addiction treatment principles, as well as being non-judgmental, patient, and adaptable in fast-paced or emotionally charged settings.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Therapeutic Facilitation: Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing approaches such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and relapse prevention strategies, to facilitate clients' recovery and personal growth. Conduct group therapy sessions to address specific substance use disorder-related topics, encourage support, and promote a sense of community among participants. Implement psychoeducational interventions, skill-building exercises, and therapeutic activities to support clients' recovery goals. Address co-occurring disorders and incorporate trauma-informed care principles into the therapeutic process. Foster a safe and supportive environment that encourages clients' active participation, engagement, and personal growth. Ensure timely clinical documentation that reflects services delivered.

Training and Education: Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and developments in addiction treatment, sharing knowledge and providing ongoing training and education to staff and other stakeholders.

Collaboration within a Recovery-Oriented System of Care Team: Work closely with the Program Director, counselors/therapists, case managers, and peer support specialists to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to client care.

Crisis Management: Be prepared to address crises, assess risk factors, and intervene appropriately if a client displays signs of relapse, withdrawal, or other high-risk behaviors.

Ethical Practice: Adhere to professional ethics, confidentiality standards, and regulatory requirements, promoting a culture of respect, dignity, and non-discrimination in all interactions and interventions.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW), Counseling, Psychology, or a related field is required. CPR and First Aid certification are a plus.

Required license: Registered CSAC-S, CSAC, or Licensed-eligible professional with the Department of Health Professions (DHP).

Experience:

· Minimum of 2 years of experience working in substance abuse treatment, preferably in a group therapy setting.

· Experience with evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

Skills:

· Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage clients in meaningful discussions.

· Deep empathy, active listening, and the ability to build trust with diverse populations.

· Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.

· Ability to maintain professional boundaries while providing compassionate care.

· Knowledge of substance abuse disorders, treatment modalities, and relapse prevention strategies.
