BUT WAIT!...before you apply, let me tell you a little bit about Stronglife, our culture and our story so you can decide for yourself if this is the role for you . Stronglife began over 20 years ago by happy accident through my own personal struggles with weight loss and health in my forties. Back then, weight training and strength, especially for women, was considered fringe culture and a bit weird tbh. I mean why would you want to “body build” or “bulk” up when everyone was obsessed with being skinny and wearing leg warmers and leotards like Jane Fonda?? After giving birth to four of my children, and trying just about every diet and weight loss fad in the book, I’d had it! I needed to lose eighty pounds, I was depressed, exhausted and sick. and I had no idea what I was gonna do. I just knew I was desperate for change and seeking the right answer for me. One especially bad day, I got up the courage to call some friends of mine that I trusted (husband and wife) who were local body builders and asked them for their advice and help. They had kids my same age and to my surprise, they agreed the best way they could help was to train with me. They told me to come by every day, bring my kids to play and work out with them in their garage gym. Of course, I had NO idea what they meant by “work out” and it’s a good thing I didn’t or I would have ran away…as fast as my out of shape body would let me. But as it turned out, their version of strength training completely transformed my health and my body. I will admit that I probably cried as much as I sweat that year, but miraculously with their help and unwavering support, change began to happen. They pushed me to my limit while still being incredibly motivating and connected and it made ALL the difference. Not only did I lose my weight within 7 months, I learned the potential and power of my own body. Through their example and connection, I connected back into my body and my sense of self. This experience changed my life in many significant ways, but the most important thing that changed was that I knew I had a purpose. It was to help others do the same thing. I had learned from my own experience the power of strength training for weightloss, anti-ageing and overall health long before the science we know today backed up those outcomes. So I got my personal training certification, enlisted my sister to help me and started training out of my own garage gym.
That was many years ago, today Stronglife gyms are private, state of the art personal training spaces that specialize in training men and women over 40. We provide a non competitive, positive culture and safe space for our clients to transform their health and strength. We offer highly specialized group training as well as private and semi-private strength training programs for clients with unique training needs or adaptation. In addition to our personal training programs, we offer accountability systems, personalized coaching and connection both in and outside the gym.
So if all of the above sounds good to you, let me give you an idea of what we are looking for and what skills you gotta have to be considered for a lead position at Stronglife.
