Job Summary

The Event Captain holds the pivotal leadership role in the on-site execution of an event, maintaining ultimate accountability for the event's performance from the initial load-in phase through to the final breakdown. This position demands a meticulous and proactive approach to ensure that every facet of the service delivery aligns with the client's expectations and the company's highest standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

Event Leadership & Execution

● Lead event service staff on-site, providing full direction and operating under the guidance of the Operations Manager while actively participating in service execution.

● Be accountable for the synchronized execution, pacing, and overall floor management of service throughout the event.

● Manage service teams through transitions, course timing, and immediate adjustments to maintain a seamless service flow and a positive guest experience.

Allergy, Safety & Risk Oversight

● Oversee allergy communication, verification, and delivery processes in collaboration with culinary teams

● Enforce food safety standards, sanitation practices, and cross-contact prevention protocols

● Identify and proactively mitigate service, safety, or operational risks during event execution

Client, Planner & Vendor Communication

● Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, planners, and vendor partners

● Maintain clear, professional communication to ensure confidence, alignment, and smooth execution

● Manage real-time timeline adjustments and service changes while preserving service standards

Decision-Making & Problem Resolution

● Independently assess situations and make informed decisions in real time when operational leadership is not present

● Resolve guest, service, or logistical issues efficiently while maintaining professionalism and brand integrity

● Escalate issues appropriately when required while maintaining event continuity

Documentation & Follow-Up

● Complete post-event documentation, reporting, and feedback as required

● Communicate operational notes, team performance feedback, and event outcomes to leadership

Required Skills & Abilities

● Demonstrated mastery of formal dining, high-volume service, and synchronized service techniques

● Strong leadership presence with the ability to direct, motivate, and manage service teams

● High-level situational awareness in complex, fast-paced, and guest-facing environments

● Proven experience supporting or leading high-profile, VIP, or large-scale events

● Consistent execution of brand standards, professionalism, and service excellence

● Ability to mentor, train, and elevate performance of Event Server and Event Server II team members

● Ability to remain composed, decisive, and service-focused under pressure

Education and Experience

● Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in catering, banquet, or event service environments

● Prior experience in a lead, senior server, or comparable supervisory role required

● Demonstrated experience executing formal plated service, synchronized dining, buffet service, and high-volume events

● Proven involvement in allergy protocol compliance, food safety standards, and risk prevention.

● Serve Safe handler certificate required to be obtained within 90days of hire.

● Experience supporting or leading large-scale, VIP, or high-profile events

● None

Physical Requirements

● Must be able to remain standing and move actively throughout event spaces for the duration of a shift, typically 6–10 hours based on assigned events.

● The role requires performing service-related movements repeatedly, such as walking, bending, and reaching.

● Capacity to safely lift, transport, push, or pull service items and equipment weighing up to approximately 40 pounds.

● Maintain balance and control while carrying trays and serviceware.

● Work effectively in busy, high-traffic areas, maintaining awareness of surroundings.

● Work in varied settings (indoor/outdoor), enduring temperature/weather/noise fluctuations.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
