Help Desk Analyst II

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (target conversion around 6 months)
Location: Greater Milwaukee Area
Hybrid flexibility may be available in the future, but candidates should expect to work primarily onsite during the initial phases of the role.
Schedule: Standard business hours

About the Opportunity

Our client is building and modernizing their internal IT organization as part of a large-scale technology transformation initiative. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team during a critical phase of infrastructure and support development.

The environment is highly collaborative, cloud-focused, and evolving rapidly. Team members will have the opportunity to help establish support processes, develop documentation, improve service management practices, and influence the future state of IT operations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and helping build scalable support operations from the ground up.

Position Overview

The Help Desk Analyst II provides advanced end-user support within a Microsoft 365 environment while helping drive operational improvements across the IT organization.

This position requires more than traditional ticket resolution. Successful candidates will be expected to identify trends, perform root cause analysis, contribute to documentation efforts, and support the development of service management processes and standards.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in evolving environments and enjoys taking ownership of both technical issues and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Tier II technical support and troubleshooting
Support and administer Microsoft 365 technologies
Perform root cause analysis and problem resolution
Manage incidents and requests within an ITSM platform
Develop and maintain SOPs, knowledge articles, and documentation
Support endpoint deployment, lifecycle management, and asset tracking
Assist with user onboarding, offboarding, and access provisioning
Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams
Support security and compliance initiatives
Identify recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions
Contribute to process improvement and service management maturity

Required Qualifications

3-5 years of Help Desk, Technical Support, or End User Support experience
Experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments
Experience working within an ITSM or ticketing platform
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
Experience supporting:
Identity and Access Management
Endpoints and peripherals
Device provisioning and deployment
Strong documentation and communication skills
Experience creating SOPs, knowledge articles, or process documentation
Basic networking troubleshooting experience
Understanding of Group Policy
Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
Strong customer service mindset
Ability to work onsite

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting healthcare or other regulated environments
Experience with ITSM implementations or process improvements
Knowledge base development experience
Multi-site support experience
Experience helping build or mature internal IT support organizations
Exposure to PowerShell or automation tools
Familiarity with Microsoft Secure Score and security best practices
Experience with API integrations

Preferred Education & Certifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

CompTIA A+
CompTIA Network+
CompTIA Security+
Microsoft Fundamentals
Microsoft 365 Administrator
Microsoft Security Administrator
MD-102
Other relevant Microsoft certifications

Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
