H-Tax & Accounting, LLC

The Assistant Accountant (with payroll processing emphasis) is an integral position in our accounting team and is in charge of helping to maintain client relationships, their financial records, and ensuring record accuracy so that our clients can effectively make sound decisions about the position of their company.

Administrative Duties:

Answer phones, log calls, answer basic questions, forward calls to appropriate contacts.

This position is backup on the phones to the receptionist.

Provide customer service and interface with clients at front desk.

Prepare, manage, track, and maintain client's financial files and related paperwork.

Provide overall support to management and other office staff as requested.

Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with clients, Chief Accountant, and Staff to accomplish a broad variety of functions: mainly payroll processing, accounting, business licensing renewal applications, and sales tax reporting duties related to client accounts.

On a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis, review client information for accuracy and completion.

Follow up with clients regarding questions they may have and resolve discrepancies.

Provide excellent customer service in a warm welcoming attitude to clients and others.

Support strict confidential and safe work habits and environment always – work with classified documents and receipts of income and expenses.

Prepare sales tax reports; file and pay State sales taxes on behalf of clients.

Perform any additional job duties as needed.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), Quickbooks, Drake, internet, and other computer systems.

Proficient with Excel spreadsheets and formulas.

Excellent communication, verbal, written, and organizational skills.

Must have the ability to deal effectively, and interact well, with the H Tax Team and clients.

Ability to multi-task, manage interruptions, establish work priorities, handle stress, and effectively function in a fast-paced environment.

Able to organize business receipts by month, quarter, and/or year.

Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Experience & Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Associates or Bachelor’s degree is a plus.

Past work experience with payroll, tax & accounting for businesses preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, comprehend, and provide instructions in English, both written and verbal. Bilingual (English & basic Spanish) preferred.

Be able to lift 20-50 pounds.

Repetitive hand movements (keyboard, calculator).

Frequently required to walk, sit, and stand.

Job Type: full-time

Work Hours: Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm, once per week from 10am-7pm, and once a month on Saturdays, 10am-3pm.

Pay Range: $15-$22 per hour.
