Full Job Description

Standard Express is seeking an experienced, results-driven Operations Manager to oversee and improve our daily transportation operations.

This position will work closely with Dispatch, Planning, Fleet, Sales, and company leadership to maximize driver and equipment utilization, improve customer service, increase revenue, and control operating costs.

We're looking for someone who can see the big picture of the operation while working with departments to ensure the day to day adds up to positive results. The right person will identify opportunities, solve problems proactively, hold the team accountable, and continually look for ways to improve efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support daily Dispatch and Planning operations
Maximize driver, tractor, and trailer utilization
Improve routing and reduce empty miles, downtime, and unnecessary costs
Work with Sales to identify available capacity and revenue opportunities
Coordinate with Fleet Management to minimize equipment downtime
Monitor operational performance and key metrics
Balance customer service, efficiency, and profitability
Identify operational problems and implement long-term solutions
Coach, develop, and hold operations team members accountable
Communicate operational performance, challenges, and opportunities to leadership
Continuously improve processes across the operation

Qualifications

Transportation, trucking, logistics, dispatch, or operations management experience preferred
Strong understanding of dispatch, planning, driver management, and fleet utilization
Proven leadership and problem-solving abilities
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Understanding of transportation revenue, costs, margins, and operational KPIs
Experience with transportation management systems preferred
