Full Job Description

A New York City Council member, representing District 45, is seeking a part-time Social Media Manager and Photographer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Serve as the primary liaison to capture photos, edit, and produce high-quality photos and videos for social media platforms (IG, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok) to showcase policy agenda, community priorities and events.

· Support in planning, coordination and execution of high-profile community events, rallies, town halls, and public forums that elevate the Council Member's visibility and leadership.

· Support communications team to develop and implement social media strategies while creating high-quality visual content for the office.

· Manage and engage with followers, monitor comments and messages, and manage constituent inquiries to build community trust and enhance opportunities to communicate with the office.

· Analyze social media metrics (engagement, reach, traffic) to evaluate campaign performance and produce data-driven recommendations for improvement.

· Track and report on community concerns, trends, identifying patterns and emerging issues that require legislative or community-based solutions that can be translated to social media content. Develop targeted engagement strategies for diverse communities, including immigrant populations, older adults, youth, and families

· Stay up-to-date with current digital trends, algorithm changes, and social media tools to keep the brand competitive.

· Organize, catalog, and archive digital photographs and video assets efficiently.

· Create and implement a comprehensive plan to identify and expand the office's reach throughout the district with social media content.

· Analyze demographic data and community trends to inform outreach strategies and events to support diverse demographics.

· Represent the Council Member at community board meetings, civic association gatherings, and public hearings.

· Attend evening and weekend community events to maintain consistent office presence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Ability to work independently, take initiative, and proactively identify opportunities for engagement.

· Demonstrate experience building relationships at the community level and mobilizing residents around shared concerns.

· Creative problem-solving abilities and willingness to develop new approaches to communications matters.

· Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic differences.

· Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

· Natural relationship-builder with empathy, active listening skills, and collaborative approach

· Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) Video production, editing and photography and photo editing skills (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Lightroom, Capcut).

· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

· Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

New York City residency required within 90 days of appointment.
