The EMDR Therapist (Independent Contractor) provides outpatient mental health services to adolescents and adults experiencing trauma-related disorders, anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment concerns, and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. This position utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and other evidence-based treatment modalities to support clients in achieving symptom reduction, improved functioning, and sustained emotional wellness.
Responsibilities include conducting diagnostic assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, providing psychotherapy services, maintaining clinical documentation, collaborating with internal and external providers, and ensuring services align with ethical, professional, and evidence-based standards. The clinician maintains an independent outpatient caseload while benefiting from organizational referral support and administrative resources.
This position has been identified as needing access to protected health information (PHI). PHI is restricted under the following laws: (1) Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), (2) 42 CFR Part 2, and (3) Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. Employees with access to PHI are expected to:

Assessments and Referrals
A.
Diagnose substance use disorder and mental health disorders based on most recent version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).

Make referrals and establish referrals based on comprehensive SUD assessments (pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 245G) and mental health diagnostic assessments (pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 245I)

Individual Psychotherapy and EMDR Services
A.
Provide outpatient psychotherapy utilizing EMDR and other evidence-based treatment modalities.

Treat trauma-related disorders, anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment concerns, relationship challenges, and co-occurring disorders.

Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans based on client goals and clinical needs.
D.
Monitor treatment progress and modify interventions as clinically indicated.
E.
Conduct crisis assessments, the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), for clients experiencing acute mental health challenges and implement appropriate interventions for stabilization.

Complete clinical documentation within 24 hours.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in the Social Sciences or Behavioral Health
Currently Independently Licensed in Minnesota (i.e., Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker [LICSW], Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist [LMFT], Licensed Psychologist [LP], or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor [LPCC])
Completion of EMDR Basic Training through EMDRIA-approved training program.
Active professional liability insurance or ability to obtain insurance.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care and evidence-based psychotherapy practices.
Experience working with adolescents and/or adults in outpatient mental health settings.
Comprehensive Understanding of DSM Criteria
Willingness to- or Record of- Completing 12 Hours of Training on CODs
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or Doctoral Degree in ADC or Related Field (e.g., Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Social Work)
EMDRIA Certified Therapist.
Licensed to Practice as Mental Health Professional (MHP) in MN
Two or More Years in MH and SUD Treatment Settings
Experience working with trauma-related disorders, personality disorders, attachment related concerns, co-occurring substance use disorders, LGBTQIA and diverse populations.
Evening availability at least one day per week.
