Licensed Funeral Director
Come Help Us Build Something Meaningful
Minnesota Cremation Services is looking for a compassionate and driven Licensed Funeral Director who wants to care deeply for families while helping shape something meaningful.
We are a local, woman-owned, family-run cremation provider built on compassion, honesty, and genuine care. We believe families deserve an affordable option where they still feel seen, supported, and treated with dignity and respect.
We created Minnesota Cremation Services to offer families something different.
Care that feels personal.
Guidance that feels clear.
Pricing that is honest.
And a team that never forgets the person and family behind each arrangement.
We are looking for a Funeral Director who believes in that vision and wants to help carry it forward.
This Is More Than a Funeral Director Position
This role is for someone who wants to work closely with families and make a real difference during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
It is also for someone who wants to be part of building a company.
Minnesota Cremation Services is in a defining chapter of its story.
What began with a belief that families deserved a more personal, honest, and compassionate choice has become a trusted local provider caring for families across Central Minnesota and the Twin Cities. We have built a strong foundation, formed meaningful relationships, and earned the trust of families who have allowed us to care for the people they love most.
We also recently became Minnesota’s only CERT-certified woman-owned cremation provider.
That recognition means far more to us than a title. It represents progress in an industry where women have not always been given the opportunity to lead, own, and shape what comes next. It reflects the kind of company we are working to build: one where compassion and strength belong together, where new voices are welcomed, and where meaningful change begins with people willing to do things differently.
There is something special about joining a company at this moment.
The foundation is here. The purpose is clear. Families are finding us, professionals are trusting us, and our reputation is being built one interaction at a time. But so much of our story is still unwritten.
The Funeral Director who joins our team will have the opportunity to become part of that story. Not simply by filling a position, but by helping define how we care for families, how we support one another, and what Minnesota Cremation Services will stand for in the years ahead.
We want someone who can look at what we are building and see more than a job.
Someone who sees the opportunity to help create a company that families remember for how it made them feel.
Someone who wants their ideas to matter, their work to have purpose, and their presence to help shape something lasting.
Someone who wants to be able to look back one day and say, “I was there. I helped build that.”
Caring for Families
Our Funeral Directors work directly with families from the first conversation through the completion of arrangements and the return of their loved one’s cremated remains.
You will listen carefully, explain each step clearly, complete arrangements, answer questions, and help families feel steady during a time that can feel emotional and overwhelming.
The work can be busy, and every day may look different. Multiple families may need guidance at the same time, paperwork must be completed accurately, and important details cannot be missed.
But no matter how busy the day becomes, the family in front of us should never feel rushed or like another name on a list.
That is at the heart of who we are.
We care for families the way we would want our own family cared for.
What You Will Do
- Meet with families and guide them through cremation arrangements with patience, compassion, and clarity
- Listen closely to what matters to each family and help them make decisions with confidence
- Explain services, pricing, authorizations, timelines, and next steps honestly and without pressure
- Complete death certificates, cremation authorizations, permits, and all required documentation accurately and promptly
- Maintain thoughtful and responsive communication with families throughout the entire process
- Coordinate with hospitals, hospices, nursing facilities, medical examiners, county offices, and other community professionals
- Work closely with our transfer care specialists, crematory team, and other staff and jump in wherever needed
- Assist families with obituaries, urns, memorial items, and personalized requests
- Maintain organized and complete case records
- Help identify ways to make the experience simpler, more supportive, and more personal for families
- Contribute ideas and help develop processes as Minnesota Cremation Services continues to take shape
- Step in and support the team wherever needed
The Person We Are Looking For
- We are looking for someone who is kind, capable, dependable, and deeply committed to caring for people.
- Someone who can sit with a grieving family and make them feel heard.
- Someone who can explain difficult information in a way that feels calm and understandable.
- Someone who notices the details, follows through, and understands the responsibility that comes with the trust families place in us.
- The right person will be warm without sounding scripted, confident without being forceful, and professional without ever feeling impersonal.
You may be a strong fit if you:
- Are a Minnesota-licensed Funeral Director or eligible to become licensed in Minnesota
- Truly enjoy working directly with families
- Lead with compassion, patience, and honesty
- Communicate clearly and respond thoughtfully
- Can manage multiple families, deadlines, and responsibilities without losing attention to detail
- Remain calm and steady during difficult or emotional situations
- Take ownership of your work and follow through on what you say you will do
- Are willing to help wherever needed and understand that every role on the team matters
- Are comfortable contributing ideas and working in an environment that is still being thoughtfully built
- Care more about doing meaningful work than following tradition simply because it has always been done that way
- Believe affordable cremation care should never feel less personal, less dignified, or less compassionate
Why Minnesota Cremation Services
Minnesota Cremation Services was created with one simple belief: families deserve care that is personal, transparent, and affordable.
We chose a different path from the large, traditional funeral home model. Our space was designed specifically around cremation care, simplicity, privacy, and respect.
Everything takes place at our single location with our own onsite crematory. Nothing is outsourced or handed off. Families have the comfort of knowing their loved one remains with the same dedicated team from the moment they enter our care through the cremation itself.
When families call us, they speak with a real local professional. They receive clear answers, responsive communication, and compassionate guidance without pressure or unnecessary complication.
We are proud to be woman-owned.
We are proud to be helping break barriers in an industry that has not always embraced different voices or new ways of thinking.
Most of all, we are proud of the trust families place in us and the care our team provides every day.
We are building a company where people come first, where each detail is intentional, and where good ideas are welcomed regardless of someone’s title.
There will be busy days and difficult conversations. There will be moments that require flexibility, teamwork, and the willingness to step in wherever needed.
But there will also be the opportunity to do work that matters.
To help a family feel less overwhelmed.
To give someone clarity when they do not know what comes next.
To make an incredibly difficult experience feel a little more manageable.
And to help build a company that is changing what families can expect from cremation care.
