Full Job Description

Shamrock Group is seeking an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager to oversee our soda, juice, and ice manufacturing departments.

This role is responsible for daily production, employee leadership, food safety, sanitation, quality, inventory, equipment coordination, and continuous improvement across all three departments.

The ideal candidate has previous leadership experience in beverage, juice, soda, ice, or food manufacturing and a strong understanding of HACCP plans, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and food safety compliance.

Shamrock Group is a well-established beverage manufacturer, distributor, and service provider with more than 80 years of history in the Minneapolis area.

Our operations include soda and juice production, packaged ice manufacturing, beverage distribution, refrigeration systems, and logistics services.

Under new ownership, Shamrock is entering an exciting period of growth and modernization. This is an opportunity for an experienced operations leader to improve systems, develop employees, and make a meaningful impact across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of the soda, juice, and ice manufacturing departments.
Lead, coach, and hold supervisors, leads, and production employees accountable for performance.
Develop daily and weekly production schedules based on customer demand, inventory, staffing, and equipment availability.
Ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and according to established quality and food safety standards.
Maintain and enforce the company’s Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan.
Ensure compliance with Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures, sanitation schedules, and food safety requirements.
Monitor critical control points, production records, corrective actions, and verification procedures.
Ensure production and sanitation documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained appropriately.
Prepare the facility and employees for internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
Ensure production equipment, work areas, storage spaces, and facilities meet sanitation and housekeeping standards.
Coordinate preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, and production downtime with maintenance employees and outside vendors.
Monitor production output, labor costs, waste, downtime, product loss, and overall department performance.
Identify and implement improvements that increase production capacity, reduce waste, and improve product consistency.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, training materials, and production records.
Ensure employees are properly trained in equipment operation, sanitation, food safety, quality standards, and workplace safety.
Investigate production, quality, food safety, sanitation, and employee safety concerns.
Implement corrective and preventive actions when issues are identified.
Oversee raw materials, ingredients, packaging supplies, and finished-goods inventory.
Work closely with sales, distribution, purchasing, maintenance, finance, quality, and senior leadership.
Assist with budgeting, labor planning, operational forecasting, and capital improvement projects.
Establish and monitor performance metrics related to production, quality, safety, labor, waste, downtime, and on-time completion.
Promote a workplace culture focused on accountability, teamwork, safety, communication, and continuous improvement.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with applicable FDA, OSHA, EPA, state, local, and food manufacturing requirements.
Enforce company safety policies, personal protective equipment requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe equipment operating practices.
Support employee safety training, incident investigations, corrective actions, and injury-prevention initiatives.
Ensure required food safety, sanitation, production, and safety records are properly completed and retained.
Support DOT and fleet safety requirements that affect manufacturing and distribution operations.

Required Qualifications

Five or more years of operations, production, or manufacturing leadership experience.
Experience managing employees in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
Experience overseeing multiple departments, production lines, or operational functions.
Working knowledge of HACCP plans and HACCP compliance.
Experience maintaining or enforcing Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, quality, traceability, and production documentation requirements.
Experience with production scheduling, labor planning, inventory management, and equipment maintenance coordination.
Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to respond quickly and effectively to production, staffing, quality, sanitation, and equipment issues.
Experience developing standard operating procedures and improving operational processes.
Ability to analyze production data, control costs, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions with limited direction.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience in soda, juice, beverage, packaged ice, or food manufacturing.
Experience overseeing both beverage and packaged ice manufacturing operations.
HACCP certification or formal food safety training.
Experience preparing for FDA, customer, regulatory, or third-party food safety audits.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
Experience with sanitation verification, allergen controls, product traceability, recalls, and corrective actions.
Experience managing a department budget or profit and loss responsibilities.
Familiarity with manufacturing, inventory, or enterprise resource planning software.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
Ability to regularly walk through production, warehouse, refrigeration, and ice manufacturing areas.
Ability to work in environments that may be wet, cold, noisy, or subject to changing temperatures.
Ability to respond to urgent production or equipment issues outside of normal working hours when necessary.
Ability to follow all required food safety, sanitation, and personal protective equipment procedures.

What Success Looks Like

The successful Operations Manager will create greater consistency, accountability, and communication across Shamrock’s soda, juice, and ice departments.

This individual will strengthen HACCP and sanitation compliance, improve production planning, reduce downtime and waste, develop employees, and establish scalable operating procedures that support Shamrock’s continued growth.
