CNC Toolmaker

Department: Tool Room

Employment Status: Full-Time | Direct Hire

Compensation: $35–$49/hour based on your professional background

Working Hours: Monday–Thursday | 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled Toolmaker to assist our metal stamping division by constructing, fixing, and servicing the tooling utilized in our punch press operations. This role is vital for maintaining high production efficiency, equipment dependability, and precise tooling standards. Candidates should possess robust machining capabilities, advanced troubleshooting expertise, and a background in precision tooling and progressive dies.

Primary Responsibilities

Analyze and translate technical specifications, CAD designs, and engineering blueprints.
Construct, restore, and service precision tooling components, fixtures, and dies to ensure operational readiness.
Utilize manual and CNC machinery, such as grinders, lathes, and mills, to support production needs.
Verify the performance and dimensional precision of tooling through thorough testing and assembly.
Help maintain consistent production quality by resolving tooling and stamping complications to reduce operational delays.
Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to refine processes and implement tooling modifications.
Execute necessary tooling adjustments and routine preventative maintenance tasks.
Keep accurate records regarding all tooling builds, revisions, and maintenance activities.
Support a safe and high-quality work environment by adhering to all established company protocols.

Requirements

Completion of technical training, a formal Tool & Die apprenticeship, or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience within the metal stamping toolmaking field.
Proficiency in working with secondary tooling, gages, fixtures, compound tooling, and progressive dies.
Competency in using standard toolroom machinery, including CNC machining centers, mills, lathes, and grinders.
Deep understanding of metal flow, die clearances, and stamping application setups.
Ability to interpret complex die layouts, GD&T specifications, and technical prints.
Strong mechanical aptitude paired with effective problem-solving skills.
Capacity to work autonomously while upholding rigorous quality standards.
Experience managing tooling wear patterns and working with high-strength materials.

Desired Background

Experience with in-die sensors and die protection systems.
Familiarity with Haas CNC equipment.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software.
Exposure to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies.
