About The Uncommon Business
The Uncommon Business is a fast-growing AI-first education company that teaches business leaders to build intelligent systems, not just use prompt tools. We're profitable, EOS-driven, and we operate in intense twice-yearly launch cycles with sustainable pace in between. We promote on impact and ownership, not tenure.
About the Role
You are the keeper of the brand's visual standard. Through documentary-grade capture and editing, you make our founder, Callan, look like the high-level leader and AI educator she is, and you produce work that makes people want to know her. This is not a run-and-gun content role. You set the visual bar for the entire brand and hand the rest of the team premium material to run with.
Responsibilities
- Documentary-style capture: Follow Callan, direct a second camera, and draw out her best material, documenting her work, her process, and how she thinks. This is the depth-and-trust layer of the brand.
- Monthly capture days: Run two capture days per month, one in-office and one following Callan through a day in her life, bringing a second videographer for full coverage.
- Long-form YouTube: Own the long-form YouTube edit plus the short-form and story cuts pulled from it, delivered ready-to-post. One capture day should yield 25 or more posts across B-roll, founder soundbites, and short- and long-form storytelling.
- Stills and carousels: Turn screenshots and stills into carousel-ready assets that hold the premium standard across platforms.
- Event capture: Lead capture at live events with a second camera, owning the footage that fuels our highest-trust content.
Qualifications
- Strong videography and editing skills, with a portfolio that demonstrates a clear storytelling eye.
- Experience directing talent on camera and pulling the best out of a founder or subject without stiffening them up.
- An eye for the small, human moments that build trust and authenticity.
- Ability to hold a premium quality bar while still delivering on a consistent capture-day rhythm.
- An AI-first approach to editing and post-production workflow, and a desire to grow.
What Success Looks Like
- Capture cadence: Both monthly capture days run on schedule and produce enough raw material to feed the full content engine.
- Long-form output: One to two long-form YouTube pieces ship per month, with short-form and stories cut and handed off.
- Visual standard: Produced content consistently reads as premium and builds founder authority.
- Handoff reliability: Ready-to-post assets are delivered on time, every cycle.
Schedule
Twice per year (10–12 weeks total), this launch-critical role requires availability from 7 AM to 7 PM, with additional hours for preparation, live event support, and post-launch debriefs. This pace is intense by design and isn't for everyone. Outside launch seasons, the workload is sustainable and strategic. The company fully closes December 25–January 1.
