The Network Operations Engineer will support secure, reliable, and highly available enterprise network infrastructure in a production environment. This role will be responsible for troubleshooting complex network issues, monitoring network health and performance, responding to incidents and outages, maintaining documentation, and supporting lifecycle management activities across routing, switching, firewall, wireless, wide area network, and industrial network environments.
Location: Wichita (preferred location), Minneapolis, Corpus Christie, TX
Responsibilities:• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues involving routing, switching, firewalls, wide area network, wireless, and industrial network infrastructure.• Monitor network health, availability, and performance using enterprise monitoring tools, identify trends, establish baselines, and support capacity planning efforts.• Respond to network incidents and outages according to established operational procedures, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate restoration activities.• Create and maintain documentation for network infrastructure, configurations, standard operating procedures, and support processes.• Execute network move, add, and change activities including device provisioning, circuit modifications, lifecycle replacements, and configuration updates.• Support network lifecycle management activities including hardware refreshes, firmware updates, standardization efforts, and decommissioning activities.• Partner with engineering, cybersecurity, operations, vendors, and business stakeholders to maintain secure and reliable network connectivity.• Participate in reliability improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues, monitoring gaps, and opportunities to improve network stability and supportability.• Support secure network connectivity solutions including firewalls, segmentation, remote access, and site to site communications.• Participate in an on call rotation and provide operational support for critical network infrastructure in a 24x7 environment.
Required qualifications:• Experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure in a production environment.• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP or IP, routing, switching, virtual local area networks, domain name system, dynamic host configuration protocol, and wireless networking.• Experience with network monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes.• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance issues across multiple technologies.• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation and support procedures.
Preferred qualifications:• Experience supporting industrial, process control, or operational technology networks in manufacturing, refinery, pipeline, terminal, or critical infrastructure environments.• Experience with incident response and restoring services during operational outages while coordinating communications across multiple teams.• Knowledge of software defined wide area network, wide area network, cellular, very small aperture terminal, wireless, and remote site networking technologies.• Experience managing and troubleshooting firewalls, network segmentation, remote access solutions, and secure connectivity architectures.• Familiarity with network monitoring and observability tools such as Cisco DNA Center, SolarWinds, or similar platforms.• Experience supporting highly available 24x7 operational environments where reliability and customer impact are critical considerations.• Demonstrated ability to identify recurring issues and drive long term reliability improvements through automation, process improvements, alert tuning, or root cause analysis.• Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate, Cisco Certified Network Professional, CompTIA Network Plus, Fortinet Network Security Expert, Palo Alto Networks, or equivalent networking certifications.
