JPosition Summary
We are seeking an experienced and hospitality-driven Restaurant Assistant General Manager to help lead one of Minneapolis' premier fine dining restaurants within a luxury hotel.
This leadership position partners closely with the Restaurant General Manager and Executive Chef to oversee daily operations, elevate the guest experience, develop a high-performing service team, and drive exceptional financial results. The ideal candidate is a polished and hands-on leader with a passion for luxury hospitality, refined dining, and creating memorable guest experiences.
Candidates should have experience in luxury hotels, Forbes-rated properties, upscale independent restaurants, or acclaimed fine dining concepts and possess a strong understanding of elevated food, wine, and beverage service.
Key ResponsibilitiesRestaurant Operations
- Assist in leading all daily front-of-house operations while ensuring seamless execution of breakfast, lunch, dinner, lounge, and private dining services.
- Support the Restaurant General Manager in achieving operational, financial, and guest satisfaction goals.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence during service, ensuring every guest receives attentive and personalized hospitality.
- Oversee reservations, seating strategies, service flow, and guest recovery initiatives.
- Partner with Culinary leadership to ensure flawless communication and execution between front and back of house.
Luxury Guest Experience
- Deliver service consistent with Forbes Travel Guide and AAA Four/Five Diamond luxury hospitality standards.
- Build meaningful relationships with hotel guests, local clientele, VIPs, and repeat patrons.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally while identifying opportunities to exceed expectations.
- Monitor guest feedback, online reviews, and satisfaction scores to drive continuous improvement.
- Champion personalized and anticipatory service throughout every guest interaction.
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and mentor supervisors and front-of-house team members.
- Conduct daily pre-service meetings focused on menu knowledge, wine education, service standards, and guest engagement.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative culture built on professionalism and teamwork.
- Support performance evaluations, coaching, recognition, and succession planning.
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and operational excellence.
Financial Performance
- Assist with managing labor costs, scheduling, payroll, inventory, and departmental expenses.
- Monitor daily sales, beverage performance, labor productivity, and operating costs.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability while maintaining uncompromising service standards.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting in partnership with restaurant leadership.
Beverage & Culinary Collaboration
- Work closely with the Executive Chef and Beverage Manager to deliver an integrated dining experience.
- Ensure team members possess exceptional knowledge of menu items, ingredients, wine pairings, spirits, and cocktails.
- Support wine dinners, chef collaborations, holiday programming, and special culinary events.
- Encourage thoughtful food and beverage recommendations that enhance the guest experience and increase average check.
Sales & Business Development
- Help drive restaurant revenue through private dining, local partnerships, hotel guest engagement, and repeat business initiatives.
- Partner with Hotel Sales and Marketing on promotions, seasonal programming, and community events.
- Support VIP experiences, corporate dinners, and special events that strengthen the restaurant's reputation.
Compliance & Operational Excellence
- Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, food safety, and responsible alcohol service regulations.
- Maintain exceptional standards for cleanliness, organization, and presentation.
- Oversee cash handling, POS procedures, inventory controls, and opening and closing responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to hotel policies, luxury brand standards, and departmental SOPs.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive restaurant leadership experience, including experience as an Assistant General Manager, Restaurant Manager, or similar role.
- Experience in a luxury hotel, upscale resort, fine dining restaurant, or high-end hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of luxury service standards, restaurant operations, labor management, and financial performance.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to coach, motivate, and develop high-performing hospitality teams.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other peak business periods.
Preferred
- Experience with Forbes Travel Guide or AAA Four/Five Diamond service standards.
- Strong wine and beverage knowledge; WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, or similar wine education is highly desirable.
- Experience in chef-driven restaurants or luxury independent hotels.
- Familiarity with restaurant management systems, POS platforms, and scheduling software.
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
