The Polk County Highway Department has a seasonal job opening for a Campground Host at Cross Lake Tilberg Park located NE of Fosston, MN. Duties include but are not limited to maintaining a neat campground, cleaning and supplying the bathhouse, minor maintenance, assisting with special projects, and greeting visitors. A valid driver’s license is required. The monthly stipend for this position is $2,176.96.

Objectives of the Campground Host Program

To work cooperatively with the Polk County Highway Department staff to ensure a safe and
enjoyable recreation experience to the visiting public.
- To reduce vandalism and violations within the campground
- To foster an increased sense of security for campground visitors.
Requirements for Consideration as a Campground Host
The purpose for establishing requirements for our Hosts is to provide consistency in the administration of the Host Program, to makes certain all Hosts understand what is expected from them and what will be provided by the Highway Department while ensuring fairness and reasonable understanding for both partners.
- Must be relatively physically fit to do light maintenance. A physical examination may be required.

Preferred tour of duty is the whole recreation season, from the campground opening in May through September. Campground Host should be on the site five days per week. Hosts should be on duty Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Host(s) must be willing to serve as a government witness for violations they observe.
Duties of the Campground Host:

Litter should be picked up in the campground, beach, picnic area and boat landing.
- Toilets and showers are to be checked daily for toilet paper and cleanliness. Toilets and showers should be cleaned when necessary.

Clean, remove cobwebs and maintain the bulletin and fee boards once a week.
- Attend to minor maintenance items that are needed or requested by campers.
- Report to Maintenance Supervisor any health, safety or other maintenance items that cannot be repaired by Host.
- Monitor campground reservation signs on reserved sites as requested by Highway Department.
- Assist with special projects as requested, with joint approval.

Additional responsibilities will be covered during Host Training.
Campground Host Training
Within the first week, the following training will occur:
- Maintenance Supervisor with maintenance crew, will train Host in campground maintenance, safety and reservation system.

Maintenance Supervisor will discuss the various law enforcement problems associated with the campground, and the Host's law enforcement responsibilities.
- A Campground Host Training day is planned for Early June annually.
Benefits and Protection to the Campground Host

The camping spur is provided free to the Campground Host, along with electricity, water and sewer are provided at the site.
- A maximum of 2 sleeping units will be allowed at the Host site. Only visiting immediate family members (sons and daughters/with spouses, and grandchildren) will be permitted to stay at the site free of charge. All other overnight guests using an extra sleeping unit, or
bringing their own, should pay the appropriate daily fee. -
Participation in safety meetings held annually by Highway personnel.

Cleaning and maintenance tools, building keys, and handout materials for campers will be provided to the Host.
