Position Summary
Our Cashier / Bagger is an important part of the customer experience at Central Market. This position is responsible for providing friendly, efficient service at checkout, accurately handling customer transactions, and helping customers get their groceries safely and efficiently to their vehicles.
This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone who wants to gain experience in the grocery industry and has an interest in learning and growing with our store.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful service throughout the checkout process.
- Accurately scan and process groceries and other merchandise.
- Handle cash, credit cards, checks, and other forms of payment accurately.
- Bag groceries carefully and efficiently, keeping items organized and protected.
- Assist customers with loading groceries into their carts and, when needed, help carry groceries to their vehicles.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked checkout area.
- Follow proper procedures for coupons, discounts, loyalty rewards, and other promotions.
- Answer customer questions or direct customers to the appropriate department for assistance.
- Watch for product and pricing discrepancies and communicate issues to a supervisor.
- Assist with carts, front-end cleaning, and other tasks to keep the front end running smoothly.
- Provide a positive and welcoming experience for every customer.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and customer service standards.
- Assist with other store duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous cashier or grocery experience is helpful but not required.
- Friendly, dependable, and comfortable working with the public.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle transactions accurately.
- Able to work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift and carry grocery bags and products.
- Reliable attendance and a positive attitude are important.
